A good reminder that sometimes it takes a lot of time to build a true contender
Carolina took 11 years from their rock bottom to reach the SCF. 1-12 in the ECF before that.
Florida took 10 years from their rock bottom to reach the SCF and got demolished their first time there.
I really don't know who is going to win this SCF, Canes being 12-1 is an advantage, you saw it vs the Habs, fatigue level was very apparent, but Vegas sweeped their WCF, played 3 more games total, will it make that much of a difference? Plus they got more offensive firepower.
@zettzilla Canes fan here. Ottawa was our toughest opponent in the East. Even with all of their injuries, they punched us in the mouth every shift every game. Carolina hobbled out of that series
i’m not saying getting swept is good in any way but seeing how the flyers and habs did against the canes made me feel a lot less disappointed in the sens
@B777_200LR@caniacally Wtf does playoff series wins in 06 and 02 have to do with teams that have all players that weren’t even in the league at that time
To say one thing for Montreal…
They were the match up the majority of us LEAST wanted. Everyone had seen enough in season/playoffs to think they might be our kryptonite.
If you think your team would’ve done better, they wouldn’t have.
That’s not about you. It’s about us.
@Press1forClout I agree with that. I was chastised by a drunk Canadians fan in public for wearing my Canes gear, he was with his young children and it was very embarrassing for them. I live in western Canada and even out here, people can't stand Habs fans. Awful group
Now that the series is over. I stand by what I said. No fanbase has ever been more toxic, disgraceful, and flat out childish as Montreal. At no point did I see any accountability taken. The one thing they do better than others though? Making up excuses. It really was pathetic.
@BetterCallField Meh, Rod and Carolina are 12-5 in games all time against Montreal in the playoffs (2002 2006 2026). We just had to play Montreal more in ECF perhaps
Brind’amour out coached MSL. Well after being outclassed his last 3 ECFs I would hope he learned from being 1-16. Pretty sure his fanbase didn’t throw him under the bus like the Habs are with MSL.
@garantula21 Canes fan here. I hear ya. I knew with our historical good play against Montreal in the playoffs we'd be ok after GM1. CAR is now 12-5 in playoff games against Montreal and we're 0-7 all time in ECF GM1s. We're 3-4 in ECF series which isn't bad 👍🏻
Canes are going to be playing in the Stanley Cup Final.
I cannot lie, I thought they were toast after game 1. It just felt too similar to last year.
The beauty of this team is that top to bottom, everyone contributes.
Job’s not done. But you gotta take a moment and enjoy.
@DavidCBets Per Brind Amour, by start of 2027 season, if they have the same roster as today, we'll have $37 mil in Cap space with the cap ceiling going up. It's time we have McDavid $20 mil aav so that he can win a cup 👍🏻🌀🚩
@john_smidt10@LalimesMartian I was paraphrasing a Taylor Hall interview on NHL network, he admitted to be tired. He is a player on Carolina and played against Ottawa in R1
@B777_200LR@LalimesMartian You didn’t leave the Ottawa series tired you beat the. Like they were a junior B team they were a fraudulent playoff team that shouldn’t have even been there
Sens fans have known how good the Canes are for weeks now. They will smother anyone.
Hurricanes will win this series in 6 OR LESS. They’re fucking brutal to play against

@HabsChronicle Canes fan here. We left R1 against Ottawa battered and bruised, if not for Stützle hitting the post 18 times that series goes at least 6. Ottawa was our toughest opponent in the east by far, conversely, we're leaving the ECF well rested 🌀🚩👍
