My perspective on Psychedelics Anonymous being acquired by PsyZen:
I’m excited to see a new era of Psychedelics Anonymous with an experienced and passionate team that can work on a number of the crypto related items that we couldn’t for regulatory reasons & concerns in our jurisdiction. It’s my hope that this change will allow PA to take the next leap forward unfettered by the constraints we had to deal with.
I’m very proud of the community, technology, art, and progress that PA was able to create in a relatively short period of time. What did we accomplish over almost 3 years? 7 months of free therapy to holders, approx 250k donated to charity, interviews with prominent psychedelic leaders and scholars through the Zero Hour, partnering with the MAPS Conference, Harvard & Cornell education courses, coaching app (art, education, psychedelics, breath work, yoga), PSYpay, free merchandise, IRL treasure hunt, coffee table book (digital), psychedelic retreats, New Dawn platform, 10 international events hosting thousands of guests, including a 5 day & night event in NYC, 5 x free mints, thousands of free and paid for traits/artwork & a lot more. We were also the driving force toward a change in Psychedelics legislation in Australia.
While I am proud of what we accomplished, I am also very aware that despite our best intentions we haven’t always picked the right path.
IRL Merch 1 & 2 took longer than intended. We couldn’t continue free mental health care for as long as we hoped or planned internally. We pivoted too much, despite feeling those pivots were the best choices for the community & company that we could have made at the time. We grew our ecosystem of NFTs too quickly and it was too complicated. We fell away from our core Psychedelic/Mental Health mission to build tech. We incorporated in a jurisdiction that became difficult to navigate with the current crypto regulatory environment.
We came into this space for the love of technology, art and psychedelics, and we parted ways with Psychedelics Anonymous with a lot of good memories, humbling experiences, and lessons personally and professionally. Psychedelics Anonymous has been our favourite project that we've ever worked on and watching some of our community members share and create lifelong friendships, support groups and lifestyle changes has been a rewarding part of this project. 5am spaces, all-nighters, last minute preparations, excessive sips of water, 3/4 lattes, ringing up to shout last minute beers at the pubs for members - all moments I'll never forget.
With that being said, we intend to step back and let go of all PA related teams, items and we will continue to separately work on New Dawn and EZU. We are looking forward to working on those projects, and exploring potential collaboration with the new team on, including a potential Wear2Earn a concept which we think will be appealing.
I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you, the community, for you’re your continued support through the highs and lows over the years, and also those who provided criticism which pushed us to constantly improve and make changes.
