IGP DISU RECEIVES NPTF EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, SEEKS STRENGTHENED PARTNERSHIP FOR POLICE REFORMS The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, received the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, and members of the Fund’s Board of Directors on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. The visit opened a platform for strategic dialogue aimed at deepening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NPTF in advancing ongoing reforms and sharpening operational effectiveness. Speaking during the visit, the Executive Secretary reaffirmed the NPTF’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through sustained, needs-driven interventions across personnel welfare, training, and operational capacity. He pointed to the Fund’s record of delivering over 100 training programmes for more than 13,000 officers, executing over 170 infrastructure projects nationwide, and driving initiatives in housing, healthcare, and smart policing infrastructure. He further stressed the Fund’s resolve to strengthen operational readiness, modernize facilities, and keep all interventions aligned with the strategic priorities of the Force. Responding, IGP Disu made clear that a stronger, more strategically aligned partnership with the NPTF is central to the Force’s reform agenda. He identified personnel welfare as a non-negotiable priority, stating that improved housing, accessible healthcare, and prompt payment of insurance and welfare benefits are essential to sustaining morale, discipline, and operational effectiveness. The IGP specifically called on the NPTF to direct targeted welfare programmes at junior-ranked officers, emphasizing that those at the lower cadre carry the heaviest operational burdens and deserve structured, consistent support. IGP Disu reaffirmed his commitment to building a more responsive, technologically driven, and citizen-focused Nigeria Police Force through the partnership. install malware, or hijack your accounts. By ignoring updates, you leave doors open for hackers, even if you follow other security practices. Updates may also improve performance, fix bugs, and enhance new features but their critical role in cyber hygiene cannot be overstated.

DAY 8 –FAKE PAYMENT ALERTS EXIST - CYBERCRIME AWARENESS Fake payment alerts are one of the most common tricks used by fraudsters today. Criminals often send forged bank alerts or edited screenshots through messaging platforms like WhatsApp to deceive sellers into believing that a payment has been made. In many cases, the message looks very convincing, but the money has not actually entered the account. Once the goods are released based on the fake alert, the fraudster disappears, leaving the victim at a loss. To avoid falling victim, always confirm the payment directly from your bank account through your banking app, USSD, or official bank notification before releasing any goods or service. Do not rely solely on screenshots or messages sent by a buyer. Practicing this simple verification habit is a key part of cyber hygiene and can protect individuals and businesses from preventable financial loss.
