Is that an Ansel Adams photograph? No! The BC Archives has 4,000 of these dreamy views from Forest Service lookouts. They were taken by unknown government photographers. Each one captures a pristine vista with healthy trees as far as the eye can see.

Now retired, the Martin Mars water bombers are fondly remembered for their massive size and capacity to carry water. The bombers could carry over 27,000 litres of water to drop on wildfires, helping to suppress them. BC Archives reference codes: NA-19808, NA-19748 and NA-19803






May marks Jewish Heritage Month, and Victoria has a rich Jewish history. We’ve posted before about how the Congregation Emanu-El synagogue is the oldest synagogue in continuous use in Canada. The synagogue, built in 1863 is seen in this image from the 1860s or early 1870s. 1/3
