Every day is Training Day at BCCRS!!

Led by Tech Donovan of Sunday Night Crew, several of our up and coming members entering Firefighter 1 class combined physical fitness, equipment familiarization, and recognition of target hazards as they trained at a local “first arriving” high rise residential building.

Super Bowl Sunday Animal Rescue Flagged down by a citizen, the crew of RS741B responded to the 8700blk of Ridge Road in the Hillmead neighborhood for the report of a cat lost in a sewer drain. The crew located, and subsequently extricated the cat.

BCCRS proud to congratulate Paramedics Michael Hite and Sam Baer (not pictured), and EMT Katilyn Hite along with MCFRS crews for receiving @MCFRS Emergency Medical and Integrated Healthcare Services Clinician Award for successful resuscitation of a patient in cardiac arrest.

Maintaining a clear airway is essential to emergency care of critically injured and seriously ill patients. Last Thursday, Rescue Squad members took part in intensive airway management training designed for basic and advanced providers. #everydayisatrainingday #airwaymanagement

Snow. Sleet. Freezing rain. Bitterly cold temperatures and wind. ❄️ BCCRS staffed units for 90 calls, including a two-alarm residential fire, 28 calls for advanced life-support (paramedic) personnel, 11 motor vehicle collisions, and 9 calls for injured persons from falls. 🚒

Winter Weather Operations and Training at BCCRS ❄️🚑 Sunday afternoon during the snow, sleet, freezing rain. A great lunch of chili, double-checking tire chains, and training on the use of the SKED that help us safely evacuate patients on snow or ice. Every Day is Training Day!

We responded to 8,991 calls (unit responses) in 2025. Call volume jumped 2% compared to 2024, the highest since 2016, with increases in calls for unconscious persons/decreased levels of consciousness, overdoses, and structure fires. bccrs.org/bccrs-responds…
