B.C. Budget 2026/27 has been released. While government is calling it a “stabilizing” budget, failing to fix revenue and invest properly in public services will amount to real cuts in how those services are delivered.
Government has indicated it will reduce more than 2,500 public service jobs to address the deficit. The BCGEU has been clear: these cuts must not come from core frontline workers. Promises to right-size management cannot result in frontline staff being asked to do more with less.
