Kapicha Campsite and Eco-tourism Centre in Mogotio Sub-county offers epic sights and views of Lake Bogoria and surrounding ecosystems.
County government and team including 1000 Lenses today visited the Campsite to mark World Tourism Day which advocates for Tourism and peace.
"Siltation caused by massive erosion is posing a great danger to this facility due to human activities and we need the authorities to move in firmly to arrest the situation. I have brought them today to have a first hand information on the concerns we have been raising," he said.
According to the Company Managing Director, Jackton Kimutai, human activities due to encroachment pose a threat saying that the national government should evict those who have settled in area despite them being compensated when the dam was built.
While touring the facility with County Commissioner Stephen Kutwa, the Chief Officer for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Milkah Chelagat said they are mobilizing resources to ensure affordable alternative power source is installed at the facility to reduce on pumping costs.
County government is exploring the option of using solar energy to power pumping systems at Kirandich Dam in Kabarnet town in order to reduce on bills incurred by Kirandich Water Company.
The company incur costs of Kshs 5million against a monthly collection of Kshs 2 million.
The project has a capacity to serve 1,500 households in Ng'olong, Kabimoti, Serei, Kamwen and its neighbouring areas.
