Day 1 of @virtualmedconf did not disappoint. Some great applications in healthcare including the time I spent meditating in a loud room using @TRIPPVR. Hard to describe but worth the experience. Kudos @BrennanSpiegel for an impressive course so far.

As you reflect. If you want scribes and technicians then there are Physician Associates who provide an excellent service on / following the ward round. If you want to #train & #nurture future generations of any medic then you need the interest, motivation, time & resources

@cannula_service @kangsta77 Tricky. The word ‘doctor’ literally comes from the word ‘to teach’. I work in a ‘teaching’ hospital. Should those that chose not to teach have less access to the results of teaching eg junior staff - why can u expect to have them on your ward round but not be expected to teach?

@kangsta77 Great post. We teach how we were taught as trainees. Considering everyone learns differently, a personalized and less standardized methodology should be introduced. We should also receive training on how modern educational methods can fill in the gaps. #orthotwitter

@ChrisGraysonMD1 Great post and I feel there are several combined skills to consider. The first is what viscosity to start inserting the cement, then the actual technique followed by the stress of inserting the implant (and not dropping it) before it cures.

I found out that most US ortho trainees are leaving residency having cemented less than 5 hips. There can be debate about who needs cement, but this should no question be a skill that residents learn. Besides intraop experience, any good training methods? #orthotwitter
