Yes, Brexit is widely cited by industry leaders and officials as a significant contributor to the current crisis in London's nightlife. While it is not the sole cause, it created specific structural pressures that have made the sector more vulnerable to other shocks like the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis.

London City Hall
The "knock-on" effects of Brexit on the nightlife industry include:
•Severe Staffing Shortages: The end of EU freedom of movement has led to a major shortfall in the hospitality workforce. Data from The Independent suggests Brexit contributed to a shortfall of roughly 330,000 workers across the UK, predominantly in low-skilled sectors like hospitality.
•Rising Operational Costs: Higher recruitment costs and the need to offer higher wages to attract a smaller pool of domestic workers have squeezed profit margins. Additionally, Brexit-related trade barriers and supply chain disruptions have contributed to rising food and drink prices.
•Economic Contraction: Research commissioned by City Hall indicates London’s economy is billions of pounds smaller than it would have been if the UK had remained in the EU, reducing the overall disposable income available for leisure and nightlife.
•Regulatory Complexity: New immigration rules and increased "red tape" have made it more expensive and time-consuming for venues to hire international talent, such as specialist DJs or hospitality managers.

This is a complete joke.
London is going to end up with the night life of Zurich and the economy of Albania (sorry Zurich).
They’ll be nothing to do for London tourists but walk around hoping to see the PMs Chief of Staff having his phone nicked.

The Met have tried to block a premier jazz club from opening a new branch with a license until 1:00AM. It’s really sad that the police see their job as preventing Londoners having a good time. Every international city I go to has a better nightlife than London now.

Piffle Andrew you have a very selective memory.
Under the previous Conservative government, Stuart Machin M&S CEO was equally outspoken. His comments about "bureaucratic madness" and "utterly pathetic" were directed at Michael Gove, who was then the Secretary of State for Levelling Up.
The criticism was a response to Gove’s July 2023 decision to block M&S’s plans to demolish and rebuild its flagship Marble Arch store on Oxford Street.
He also repeatedly criticised the previous Conservative government for failing to reform business rates and the apprenticeship levy.

Business leaders don’t often speak out publicly. So when they do, you know they are badly hurting.
And for every big business suffering, there are countless smaller ones quietly dying.
Ruinously high energy costs are killing British businesses every single day.
They can't compete and its driving up the cost of your shopping too.
Keir Starmer, Rachel Reeves and Ed Miliband just don’t get this. We need action today.

'Male masturbation may have an adaptive benefit: it flushes out damaged, stored sperm.' New Oxford research suggests that the longer sperm are stored before ejaculation, the lower their quality, with implications for men trying to conceive and IVF treatment. Find out more ⬇️

Labour have destroyed young people’s chances in Britain. The group once most likely to vote for them is now also the most likely to be unemployed.
They’re waiting months to get a single interview, applying to hundreds of jobs, and still 1 in 6 can’t find one. Rejection after rejection.
Hundreds of thousands of young Brits are now fleeing the country to try their luck elsewhere.
That’s because socialism comes at a price and it’s never the politicians who pay. These tinpot class warriors attacked business at every turn and killed the golden goose.
Rachel Thieves hit them with a £25 billion jobs tax and more than doubled business rates. Who was going to pay for that?
Angela Rayner, before she resigned for unpaid taxes, hit them with 330 pages of red tape that make it harder to hire anybody. Why would anyone hire?
Windmill fetishist Ed Miliband is making energy more expensive with his obsessive opposition to oil and gas. Who can afford to make anything at those prices?
Thousands of business are being forced to close each month. Jobs have cratered. Almost 2 million are now unemployed. On April 1st another tax rise hits and it will only get worse.
Labour just don’t get it. These muppets have never run a business. They don’t understand that jobs aren’t created in Whitehall.
If you don’t have successful businesses you don’t have a country. What this lot have done is economic suicide.
Why should anyone trust them when they talk about “growth” ever again?
