@BDmep28550@____Pricey____@j45sall PC isn't comparable. PC is an open platform, with multiple retailers. No one storefront can control prices. Games you download can be freely backed up/burned, and reinstalled from that backup. You own them in a much more real way than on console.
@Xyex_@____Pricey____@j45sall No one's making you play on Playstation, you do know theres still Xbox and Nintendo, and if Sony does a move like this, they may even try to lower prices on other companies digital or physical games to make Sony less completion, theres always pc and steam for discounted games
@BDmep28550@____Pricey____@j45sall It absolutely matters. Most people still buy new games physically. And you can ONLY buy used games physically.
And that's what this is about. Not player trends, greed. Once physical is gone, Sony can charge whatever they want, because there's no other choice.
@BDmep28550@____Pricey____@j45sall Your level of ignorance is absolutely ASTOUNDING. Going from physical or digital, to digital only is a HUGE difference.
@Xyex_@____Pricey____@j45sall Plus the only difference is where you get the games from, its literally a store difference, like deciding to switch from Walmart to target. Its not a big deal, and on the bright side, no risk in damaging your copy of the game on an online download, but disc's can get damaged
@BDmep28550@____Pricey____@j45sall But, if you look ONLY at games that have both digital AND a physical release, the split still greatly favors physical. Some games, like yearly sports games, are around 50/50. Sony's own first party single.playee games are in the 75% physical range. (2/2)
@BDmep28550@____Pricey____@j45sall LMAO, imagine being so gullible you just accept what Sony tells you. 🤣
Sony's numbers were INTENTIONALLY skewed to make their decision look better. They included digital only products (DLCs, indie games without physical releases, etc) in those numbers. (1)
@Xyex_@____Pricey____@j45sall And then that 15% is split across every single store that sells games, which really isn't a ton of sales for stores and they end up sitting on shelf for a decent amount of time
@Xyex_@____Pricey____@j45sall You cant drive in real life digitally, the games are used online either way, the same outcome happens its just where you get the games from, its more so of "no one really gets this from stores, so we take it off the shelf because it doesn't make sense to keep it"
@____Pricey____@j45sall It'll only happen if people allow it to happen. You do not have to give all of your rights to corporations. That is not an inevitability.
And "I don't buy discs" isn't a valid argument. By that logic, as I have never bought a car, all car sales in the world should stop.
@CodyAlanAllred@Nick_Marseil And also, thats still not ownership, still a license, doesnt change anything, especially if part of your game is online play too, or if a game you have is online only
@CodyAlanAllred@Nick_Marseil This might be the most retarded comment ever, you rip out your network chip, 1 no more Bluetooth or wifi access so you cant even download anything, connect wireless headphones, or wireless controllers, you risk damaging the motherboard which if that happens, expensive repair
@ActualAndyPants Yeah, if they are true physical games. True physical means installed from the disc and runs from the disc. Which means we own that and can use it however we want without the worry of these shit companies stealing our games without compensation.
@ActualAndyPants Not across the board.
For example: If a full price title costs 50 bucks in a digital form and a full price title costs 60 bucks in a physical form when it means I am OWNING the game, then yes.
@ActualAndyPants I buy physical Switch 2 games they are, in fact, more expensive than digital! Also, they take slightly longer to load. But they are, in fact MINE!
Canceled.
If I can't buy physical games, there is no point in owning a console.
Will be looking into PC gaming next generation unless Sony/PlayStation reconsider.
@CodyAlanAllred@Nick_Marseil You do know this was always the case, same applies to physical disc games, its still only a license to use the game in which they can revoke at anytime, digital purchases only change the locations you can buy the game from and even then, most people bought the digital versions
