Ekblad extended for just over 6M per for eight years. Most people were saying that Bennett or Ekblad could end up in the 10 million per year range. At the end of the day, Florida got them both for an average of 7 million. Another amazing deal by Bill Zito, the “non-GM of the year three years running.” I guess the qualifications for GM of the year don’t include winning Stanley cups or making such a great environment that players are willing to play for less or making guys who have to leave even feel good because you helped them and you’re always behind them. #wtf
