There’s no tone or vocal cues in sign language, so excessive movements and facial expressions help show that stuff. They’re like adjectives, might emphasize sorrow, sarcasm, statement versus question, size of things, etc

But for those that might know it, it can help. You don’t need to be deaf to know it, hell I was taught a few basics in 5th grade

Are you’re focusing on word choices? Deaf usually means full or near full hearing loss, hard of hearing means there’s some but it’s not always the best.
So you wouldn’t help someone just “hard of hearing” because it’s not to a certain level?

@milzifier People wear glasses, reading ability isn’t always a learning thing, it can be a vision thing. Someone might be able to pick up on hand signals and movements better than characters across the room or on screen

@Ted__ted_ Sure because you know every single person in the room. They can be hard of hearing, this guy helps someone catch everything that might need it. Or still helps people at home that maybe can’t read well, or the captioning isn’t in their language. But god forbid we help people
