Tomorrow, in honour of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation we will be wearing orange. We do this in remembrance of the Canadian Residential School system and the impact of this government policy on First Nations.

Thank you to all the students and staff who wore orange today! We had to take a quick picture after our staff meeting.

Big thanks to my next door neighbour Randy for driving the 8’x 12’ mural to @stmhagersville. The mural project was a part of the 2024 Indigenous Art show where artist Michael Barber worked with about 100 students from @bhncdsb to create this stunning piece.

Meet the Artist: Delbert Jonathan is a Mohawk artist from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. Delbert has learned from and been mentored by a long generational line of artists. Delbert enjoys painting, digital art, traditional arts, leatherwork, & inspirational dancing.

Today @bhncdsb is the Feast Day of St Kateri Tekakwitha. She was the first North American Indigenous woman to be recognized as a saint. She is also known as the Lily of the Mohawks.

January Rogers is a Mohawk/Tuscarora writer from Six Nations. She owns and operates Ojistoh Publishing and Productions and works in page poetry, spoken word, performance poetry, video poetry and recorded poetry with music. #WeAreCalled
