The arrest of the honorable scholars in this humiliating manner will never stabilize the seat of power — rather, it will hasten the fall of the oppressive rule in Bahrain. The zealous people of Bahrain are required to register their stance rejecting these repressive measures that target religion in the form of its scholars, the bearers of knowledge — those who should have been appreciated and respected for their knowledge and their work in serving the religion and the sons of the homeland. These arrests and these charges are medals on the chests of every free person among them. These accusations will only increase their love in the hearts of the people and fear in the heart of the oppressive ruler. Our battle today is with the dwarf Hamad. The time has come for the word to unite on the necessity of the demise of this unjust rule, even if it costs us sacrifices. Silence in the face of injustice is what tempts the authority to persist. As the proverb says: "If your neighbor's beard is shaved, pour water on your own beard" — "I was eaten on the day the black bull was eaten." Any word of support, backing, or allegiance to this insane ruler in his crimes is considered complicity with him in the crime. 🇧🇭 Statement Issued by His Eminence #Ayatollah_Daqqaq Clarifying His Stance on the Recent Arrests, and Expressing His Concern Over Their Repercussions on Human Rights and Social Conditions, While Calling for Steps to Address the Tension and Preserve Stability In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful We strongly condemn the campaign of arbitrary arrests carried out by the Bahraini authorities, which targeted a number of Shi'i religious scholars, in a dangerous step that represents a flagrant violation of freedom of opinion and belief, and a clear transgression against the religious and civil rights guaranteed by divine laws and international covenants. Targeting scholars and people of free speech with flimsy charges and pretexts does not serve stability; rather, it increases the state of resentment and deepens the political and human rights crisis in Bahrain, especially since the scholars were and remain a voice for reform and civil peace. And we affirm that the policy of restricting religious freedoms and pursuing religious and intellectual figures will only lead to further tension, and that the continuation of these practices places full responsibility on the Bahraini authorities for their repercussions and effects on societal peace. Accordingly, we: - Demand the immediate and unconditional release of all scholars and detainees arrested on the basis of their religious and political opinions and stances. - Call for an end to the policy of arbitrary arrests and security summons against citizens, scholars, and preachers. - Urge international human rights institutions and organizations to assume their legal and ethical responsibilities regarding the ongoing violations in Bahrain. - Affirm our full solidarity with the families of the detainees and with the Bahraini people in their demand for justice, dignity, and the protection of public freedoms. 🇧🇭🔻 Opposition Forces in Bahrain: The Regime Has Placed Itself Before a Losing Gamble by Targeting the Shi'i Sect, and We Call Upon Our People to Declare Anger for the Sake of Religion and to Defend the Dignity of the Scholars In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful The mentality of exclusion and despotism in Bahrain committed a folly by which it went beyond the bounds of political repression, inaugurating a phase of declared war on the Shi'a, turning the country into an arena of chaos and revenge. The campaign of barbaric raids, which violated the sanctity of more than 40 scholars — among them the elite of knowledge, teachers of religious seminaries (Hawza), and Imams of Friday and congregational prayers — has torn apart what remains of the illusion of stability in Bahrain, and officially declared the dissolution of the legal entity of the state. The political authority today has proven, more than ever before, the collapse of its political competence and its lack of even the minimum level of legitimacy and popular representation. This frenzied sectarian madness, which has reached the point of disappearing men of knowledge behind the bars of lies and security allegations, and reviving inquisitions of doctrinal examination, constitutes a flagrant assault on the identity of this entire people. It is a desperate attempt to subdue the turban of the Messenger of Allah (SAWA) — a turban that knows neither bowing nor submission except before its Almighty Creator. This desperate act has placed everyone before a losing gamble by all standards concerning the future of this dear homeland. A gamble that has taken the country away from the corridors of fair and legitimate popular political demands, casting it into a struggle for survival and identity. The people of Bahrain, through their belonging to their religion and their good land, have already won this battle before it began. Whoever bets on crushing free peoples bets on the impossible. Bahrain, with its Bahrani identity, its scholars, and its authenticity, remains, while the mentality of exclusion and gambling is destined to perish. In the same context, we hold the free world, international organizations, and the irresponsible silence complicit in the systematic targeting and war on religious identity in Bahrain, and the destruction of what remains of the social fabric and civil peace. Moral responsibility imposes immediate action to stop this sectarian madness before these follies lead to disastrous consequences. In conclusion, we call upon the masses of our noble, defiant people to declare their categorical rejection of the humiliation of their venerable scholars, and to defend their dignity — beginning by filling the rows in mosques, raising voices with evening takbir from the rooftops of homes, and engaging in peaceful field descent in all villages and towns, and declaring broad solidarity with the distinguished scholars by visiting their homes and filling their mihrabs (prayer niches). Remember that today you are not merely defending your political rights; rather, you are affirming your right to existence and dignity on your historic land.
