Super excited to visit my student from last year in Taiwan. His Mom was the recipient of a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship so they are living in Taipei for a year. Amazing experience getting to tour the school and learn all about the culture this week. #wearegcisd

CONGRATULATIONS to Hannah Robin and Abanoub Rotsam, two IB seniors who learned today they got into MIT!!! Both matched with MIT through the Questbridge program, which means they are admitted early with a guaranteed full four-year Match Scholarship. @RandyBelcherBHS

I added a little twist to our Lord of the Flies assignment today. Each group received a sand timer with a different amount of time. The timer became their “fire” that they had to keep going throughout the assignment. Don’t let the fire go out!

Congratulations to Rofyda who helped the Lion’s Club collect around 1,000 prescription lenses for her IB CAS project. The Lion’s Club repurposes the prescription glasses and sends them to those in need around the world! #IBchangemakers @RandyBelcherBHS @iborganization @TexasIB

We had a fun, informative day today on our @IB_LDBell recruitment field trip to TCC. Our senior leaders did an incredible job showing the sophomores what IB is all about!

To build background for Lord of the Flies, I created a little chaos: a timed task, very few instructions, no teacher help, and a candy prize for the winner. Chaos ensued and leaders emerged. This novel will be so fun!

It has been such a great experience for our students to learn from our German students! And our teachers, too! Some of us may have missed the bell after lunch because we were too busy sharing and comparing education systems 😬 Worth it!

We are ending our TOK class thinking about knowledge and the knower and how our identity is shaped by our rituals, relationships, and restrictions. I’m going to miss these insightful, interesting students!
