I really believe people are fed up with the bullshit: insurance, subscriptions, price gouging, massive profits, political parties, data breaches, endless virus threats, data centers, AI, among others. I really believe change is coming in one form or another. Buckle up.

PepsiCo, the parent company of Doritos, lost over $1 billion after raising the price of a bag of Doritos to $6-$7. People stopped buying them. They later lowered the price to recover some of the lost revenue, but sales are still down. I love that for them.

I can see that, unfortunately. If you can watch it or hear about it, why do we need anything else? Of course the point is good writers are telling stories that tell readers something they didn't see online or wherever.
Andrew Smith@crimsonace

@JP8185 The attitude from some schools these days is “we have our own website, our own socials and our own student broadcast. Why would we need coverage from anyone else?”

The House will pass a $12 billion bailout for farmers suffering from high fuel & fertilizer prices caused by the Iran War, expensive equipment & parts caused by tariffs, and lower sales prices for commodities due to trade disputes with China. But the GOP is fighting communism!

@AlHamnik That thing was ridiculous. I would get my big ass in there, can’t believe you did. When we got film from Gavit it would be from the pressbox and that crows nest would block the north end zone. 😂

@BJenningsEdTech I jumped on the trend. I could do 5 a day. Started drinking the mushroom coffee. Down to 1, 8oz cup.

@AnnouncerBrian @JP8185 This topic brings back such memories — good and bad. Try beating this one: As a very young writer, had to climb up a telephone pole parallel to press box, then extend my right hand and have someone 3 feet away “pull” me in.

@JP8185 I think it’s that simple. Some simple communication, “hey what can we do for you” or “this is what we need if you can accommodate it” would go a long way. Problem is, both sides don’t know each other anymore.

This is all accurate. Football, basketball, tournament level, out of area, I try to let people know someone is coming. Generally, it's just signing in, but it helps alleviate any potential issues up front.

@Coach_Mar_2190 @JP8185 @AnnouncerBrian Think a lot of ADs don’t really get it, and they don’t know what they don’t know. Lots are overworked, under-valued and are trying to do their best with what they have. I think a simple discussion between the media and the school would solve a lot of problems, in general.

@JP8185 I remember when @AnnouncerBrian & I would set up for our baseball regional. We tried to accommodate as many people as possible from the media. It was hard. We did have to set up some media outside b/c of limited inside space. It did help that one of those two guys was a media guy

Most of us appreciate an honest effort being made by schools to be accommodating, whatever the circumstances, and don't ask for too much other than to be equally acknowledged for what we're doing. Media coverage has changed and some entities require more space.

@JP8185 I used to ask for a table on top of the box at Griffith for space and view purposes. Did it one time in a super-crowded box at Lincoln-Way East too. Again, awesome as long as it doesn't rain.
