Today I had the honor of sharing a bit of my family history during the Great Depression with my ss. My great grandmother lived in an orphanage just like Bud(from our novel). This is the actual outfit she wore in the orphanage. History & literature came to life today in room 406!

Spent the day with this creative crew designing our yearbook cover and touring the Jostens plant! So much fun and I can’t wait to share what we came up with! @chere_talbott @stationcampms

Today we compared topics in both our novel and an informational text. Then, table groups came up with evidence and elaboration to show the common theme that “working together yields positive outcomes”. @MsLanchak @stationcampms

Tell me you teach 6th grade ELA WandW without telling me… I’ll go first- I went to an apple orchard today and all I could think of was Billie Jo Kelby (Out of the Dust). #IYKYK @MsLanchak

Chalk Talk to answer TDQs. The questions were based on interpreting figurative language to see the change in state of mind of the characters in Out of the Dust. Ss also had to elaborate on a peer’s answer. It got students up, but more importantly deepened their knowledge!
