And what's wonderful about the above is how the lived experience of the author now informs their work. The fact of their own lived experience is not a weakness, but brings a compassion and insight to their work as a COP practitioner.

Another lovely BLEMI meeting this morning. We are a mutual support network and we take the time periodically, for those who want to come, to e-meet, talk about how we're going and experience much-needed solidarity! Do feel free to be in touch if you'd like to join.

It's #WorldMentalHealthDay. But every day of the year, we are here to support all current and aspiring barristers with lived experience of mental illness. This goes beyond wellbeing initiatives - the bar needs to recognise and address prejudice against those with mental illness.

And this: “But there is still work to do. “When we talk about mental health, the conversation veers towards general wellbeing. People have this idea that mental illnesses are quite fixable, but that’s not always the case.”"

This initiative, giving people with lived experience of mental health issues and personality disorders an opportunity to tell their own stories and share their reality, looks fantastic. There remains so much stigma and misunderstanding around MH... theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem each year. But how many of us know how to explain what we're going through, or reach out for support? This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, share this Tweet so people know they're not alone. And if they need support, #SpeakToMind

It's Mental Health Awareness Week. In what ways do you wish the bar was more aware of and accommodating of mental health?

“I also felt that it might be someway helpful to people if I opened up about it and say, ‘You can do a job and you can be successful’..." This is true at the bar. Our members are testament to that. theguardian.com/society/2022/m…
