I'm beginning to think Twitter may be the worst of all social media platforms. At least with garbage like TikTok or Instagram, there's no cognitive load. On here, you actively waste brainpower engaging with low-quality garbage on the pretext that you're becoming more informed.

@TheOneLanceB Phenomenal stock picker. Those who attribute his success to compounding alone are doing him a massive disservice.

I saw online that Warren Buffett made over 98% of his wealth after age 65. Felt like classic misinfo. Turns out it’s actually true but also understates his early day compounding. Some of Buffett’s wealth shifts were truly crazy. Age 30 he had $1m. Age 50 he had $250!! (wtf!?!?) Age 60 he had $3.8b!! (wtf??) People attribute this compounding to time, but that is such a misdirect. Based on the rule of 72, given market returns he should have doubled his money maybe every 9 years. Yet he did 250x over 20 years!! Buffett’s wealth really speaks to the power of how exceptionally high returns can compound over time…

The same fate awaits all those who fail to respect the market. People really should stop trying to be heroes and learn about survivorship bias. The retail gambler who came out ahead is the rare exception, a lottery winner.

There are many flaws in the education system, but most of this stuff is either useless or could be learned in a few hours at home. This is precisely the problem with the public; so often misdiagnosing issues. What on earth are you going to do with knowing how to farm?
Miilato@miiilato

18 year olds after 13 years of government education: -can't build a house -can't work on a car -no idea how to farm -economically illiterate -historically iliterate -no idea how our bodies work -no clue about healthy nutrition -is chronically depressed

I don’t quite understand how people go about their lives thinking like this. What a miserable existence it must be to strip away all agency and blame everything on the system. Even if it’s true, it does nothing for you.
Bad Opinions Calvin’s Dad@SirBadOpinions

It’s kind of interesting that across all possible viewpoints of the younger generation one of the most widely held beliefs is that the boomers completely dogfucked us and are continuing to dogfuck us, but nobody can decide what should be done about it.

Hustle culture gurus corrupt the minds of desperate young people hoping for an escape. They sell the dream of low probability outcomes. There’s a reason they sell courses. They contribute/create nothing of value. Their lives have no meaning beyond wealth and status.
Tony Montana@9mmScorpion

I’m glad I never grew up needing a fаggot internet pimp to validate me as “alpha”. The people that paid for his courses, fuck you for keeping him in the limelight.

@RichardHanania @nikicaga No intelligent individual needs to tell others their position is smart or thoughtful, it's clear in the argument. It's more likely to be underrepresented as people who hold such views are considered abnormal and shunned by society.

@nikicaga You and the rightoids who agree with you on Epstein both don’t get it. I say the things people smarter and more thoughtful than you either agree with or think are under represented in the discourse.

@tenshi_anna When someone says they’re an atheist, their position is a lack belief in God. Your reframing of divinity is a category error in that context. Not all reverence/desire carries the same weight as belief in God, in fact it’s not even close in most cases. You’re diminishing theism.

When someone says they’re an atheist, my simple response is just that I don’t believe them. I consider divinity to be a basic phenomenal fact of the hierarchical ordering of desire. Everyone serves something that is for them objectively divine. Calling yourself an atheist is just putting a word on your unconscious repression. It has no content.

@RichardHanania A man obsessed with nationalism and unchecked rule thinks he's a centrist. The human mind truly is incredible.

Elon finds this profound because he just started following politics five minutes ago and hasn’t bothered to learn anything about the recent past. In 2008, the Republican Party establishment supported amnesty and criticizing legal immigration was unthinkable.
