I'll be there on the picket line in Bristol. We're striking because we reached an impasse on pay and trining jobs, the most recent offer does not go far enough. An extra 2000 jobs when we have 20,000 doctors not getting into training shows it isn't a serious offer.

You can’t call it a negotiation when one side refuses to talk about pay. That isn’t dialogue, it’s the government setting terms without listening. We're asking for a multi- year pay deal to take a F1 from 18.5£ an hour to 22.5£ an hour. An extra 4£ an hour.

I'll be joining other resident doctors on the picket this Friday at the BRI. No other professional in any industry gets paid less than their assistants except doctors. Doctors know their worth. See you on the picket!

28.9% pay uplift seems like a big number, but when you take that into pounds per hour, it represents an extra 4£/hr split over 3 years without taking into account inflation, an extra 1.3£/hr a year. See my comment on the guardian below 👇 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Glad the majority of motion 11 which is against Palantir’s software for the NHS Federated data has passed. This should allow @TheBMA to fight back against the 330 million pound contract given by the gov. This motion is pro-patient and I look forward to it being actioned.

Great turnout at the pizza and pay event at GWH in Swindon where I talked about why we are balloting to doctors and the journey to FPR. Many I spoke to are keen to send off their ballot and vote YES for strike action!

You mentioned pay restoration is a journey. With a 1% real uplift this will take over 20+ years to restore our pay to 2008 levels. This leaves us with no choice. I'll be voting yes on the ballot and telling other doctors to do so as well. Negotiate and give us a better deal.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Sulaymaan Al Majid, a former @BMANorthernRDC co-chair. We thank Dr Al Majid for his contributions, some of which we have listed below, which made a meaningful difference to the pay and conditions of UK doctors. Our sincere condolences to his friends, family and colleagues. - Organised the big RVI picket line during resident doctor industrial action with national BBC coverage. - Assisted and advised on various local SDT and work schedule issues highlighted by members consistently throughout the year, directly improving member's working lives and ensuring they were paid correctly. - Proactively supported doctors across the region to know their rights regarding strike action and time out of training, including less than full time staff. - Provided support to doctors regarding ARCP decisions and helped get multiple unfair decisions due to Time Out Of Training overturned.
