5th graders followed the design process today by testing out their solar ovens! They tried using different flap angles, recorded the results, and next week they will make improvements! It was a chilly day but the highest temp was 140F! #ourbmsa

5th grade made solar ovens this week! They have been learning about light in Science, and next week they will test out their ovens in Science class to see if they can make nachos and s’mores! #ourbmsa

Last week, 5th grade designed Egyptian sarcophagi after learning about the ancient civilization in social studies. They were cut and engraved on our @glowforge, then assembled by the students. They look amazing! #ourbmsa

6th graders are using motors! They are designing automated transports to take drilling equipment to a fictional island in the middle of a toxic lake. Their transports must travel in a straight line between docks. #ourbmsa #OAISS

Don’t miss out on Fine Arts Night tomorrow evening, 5:00-6:30! 6th graders will be selling handmade crafts to donate to Whimsical Whiskers Catfae, there will be a talent show, and tons of fun artsy activities! #ourbmsa

6th graders are practicing the elements of art by making the same picture multiple times, highlighting a different element each time. They are doing such a fantastic job! #ourbmsa

6th graders are hard at work creating products to sell at a Maker’s Market, at the Fine Arts Night, which will be on March 19th, 5-6:30. Come to support our artists, and stay for all of the fun creative activities! All proceeds from the market will be donated to charity. #ourbmsa

For Black History month, 5th graders are designing and painting donated vinyl records based on the lives of important figures involved in Motown music, as well as the civil rights movement. This an integrated unit that also involves Social Studies and ELA. #ourbmsa #oaiss

Students at the Ravenna campus are working through a new art challenge! It’s called 28 days, 28 colors and students are given a daily prompt to guide their art-making, which is colored and then hung up! They’ve been doing great so far! #ourbmsa

6th graders are experimenting with @Sphero robots, with the goal of building an obstacle course and programming their robot to navigate it. #ourbmsa

Students signed up to run a Hive time by themselves. My room is host to the D&D hive run by three of our 6th graders. They are having so much fun! #ourbmsa

Turning passion into fashion for a cause, our students in Agents for Change are diving into the graphic tee industry, using screen printing to advocate for the UN goal, peace justice, and strong institutions.#ourbmsa

This week, 6th graders created gifts for their loved ones! #ourbmsa

6th graders have been working on their first Open Studio project! The theme is Ancient Greece, since they’ve been learning all about the civilization in Social Studies. I love seeing their ideas take shape! #ourbmsa

5th graders learned about collectible toys and discussed why certain things are valuable. Then they were given an STL file to customize their very own “egg boi” based on something from popular culture. #ourbmsa

Ravenna Campus’s first Inktober was a complete success! We had 4 students complete all 31 days, and nearly half the school population completed at least one drawing. I’m so proud of my growing artists! #ourbmsa

6th grade students are letting their creativity run wild with stop motion videos, illustrated guide books, animations, and comics explaining natural disasters and their causes, both scientifically and from the perspective of the Ancient Greeks! #ourbmsa
