BNI’s engineers spent mornings at Structural Prestressed Industries (SPI) in Medley, touring their prestressed concrete facility, from strand stressing through storage and transport. Big thanks to SPI for showing us the best way to design using precast joists and soffit beams!

Gallery at Rome Yards is rising in Tampa. It's taking shape with post-tensioned slabs, concrete columns, and concrete shear cores while balancing efficiency with architectural intent. Designed by Modis Architects and developed by Related Urban, the vision is coming to life.

As the NFL Draft takes place in Acrisure Stadium, we look back 28 years to when BNI started design of the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The design of this 7th NFL Stadium that BNI designed under Populous, fka HOK SVE, reflects an emphasis on exposed structural steel.

BNI Tampa had the unique opportunity to run a 5K on an actual airport runway, a truly one-of-a-kind experience! From the music and motivation along the course to the team spirit throughout, it was an unforgettable event! The run supported United Way Suncoast.

BNI was EoR for the PBSC Loxahatchee Campus. Building 1 is a 55,000sq-ft, 3-story composite steel structure with loadbearing masonry walls. Building 2 is an 85,000sq-ft, 4-story concrete structure with load bearing masonry walls with precast soffit beams and joist floor framing.

The Sophie & Nathan Gumenick Chapel challenged convention. BNI's founders translated abstract sketches into a steel “birdcage” framework, guided by a hand-built wire model, and layered with mesh and sprayed with Vin-Lox concrete to allow real-time form-making during construction.

It was great to see BNI's structural engineers come together with contractors and architects for the AIA Soccer Tournament.⚽ It's important to connect beyond our projects, and a little healthy competition off the field (and off the drawings) brings us even closer as a community.

On April 4, 2012, then newly rebranded Miami Marlins were ready for the first pitch in their own ballpark on the site of the old Miami Orange Bowl. Flash forward to this past Friday, March 27, 2026, and the Marlins opened their 15th season at LoanDepot Park.

We recognize and thank Frances Notinger for her years of service to BNI. What started as BNI’s fledgling Dallas Office 5 years ago has grown into a fully staffed, well-respected office ready to take on any structural challenge! Thank you for everything, Frances!

BNI's Lee Hester is at the SMPS SERC 2026 in Norfolk, VA and has been connecting, learning, and sharing ideas with AEC marketers and BD professionals from across the region. It's great to build new relationships, and Lee's looking forward to bringing fresh ideas back to the team.

Excel Miami is a 24-story residential tower. BNI was the EOR and Threshold Inspector. Key innovations included optimized column spacing for PT slabs, elimination of transfer beams through a custom truss system, and strategically aligned shear walls for balanced lateral behavior.
