Nearly half of Bangladesh’s population of around 200 million are women. Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia made education free for these women up to the Intermediate level. During her first term, she made it free up to the school level, and during her second term, she extended it up to the Intermediate level. দেশের প্রত্যেক নাগরিকের জন্য ‘ওয়ান সিটিজেন, ওয়ান ডিজিটাল আইডি, ওয়ান ডিজিটাল ওয়ালেট’ নীতি প্রণয়নের কাজ করছে সরকার। ডাক, টেলিযোগাযোগ ও তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি উপদেষ্টা রেহান আসিফ আসাদ জানিয়েছেন, জন্মের পর থেকেই একটি শিশুর ডিজিটাল আইডি চালু হবে, যা যুক্ত থাকবে ডিজিটাল ওয়ালেটের সঙ্গে। এই ওয়ালেট ব্যাংক ও মুঠোফোনে আর্থিক সেবার (এমএফএস) সঙ্গে যুক্ত করা যাবে। এই লক্ষ্যে দেশের ১৮ কোটি মানুষের জন্যই এ ব্যবস্থা চালুর কাজ শুরু করছে বর্তমান সরকার। শনিবার, এপ্রিল ২৬, ২০২৬, সকালে রাজধানীর একটি হোটেলে ‘নতুন টেলিযোগাযোগ নীতিমালা: উদ্যোক্তাদের প্রত্যাশা’ শীর্ষক সেমিনারে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে উপদেষ্টা এ কথা বলেন। সেমিনারটির আয়োজন করে টেলিকম অ্যান্ড টেকনোলজি রিপোর্টার্স নেটওয়ার্ক বাংলাদেশ (টিআরএনবি)। দেশে মুঠোফোন ও ব্রডব্যান্ড ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা বিপুল হলেও সেবার মান বিশ্বের অন্যতম খারাপ বলে মন্তব্য করেন রেহান আসিফ আসাদ। পরিস্থিতি উত্তরণে সরকারের অগ্রাধিকারের বিষয়গুলো তুলে ধরে তিনি বলেন, সরকারের কাছে সংযোগই (কানেকটিভিটি) সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। ৯০ শতাংশ জনগোষ্ঠীকে ফাইভ-জি নেটওয়ার্কের আওতায় আনা এবং ব্যবহারকারীদের ১০০ এমবিপিএস গতির ইন্টারনেট সেবা দেওয়া সরকারের অন্যতম লক্ষ্য। এ ছাড়া অগ্রাধিকারের তালিকায় রয়েছে ডিজিটাল আইডি, কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তার (এআই) প্রসার ও মুঠোফোন সেবায় কর কমানো। ব্রডব্যান্ড সেবার দুর্বলতা কাটাতে দ্রুত অবকাঠামো সম্প্রসারণের পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হচ্ছে বলেও জানান তিনি। দেশে এখনো ৫০ শতাংশ মানুষের হাতে স্মার্টফোন নেই উল্লেখ করে উপদেষ্টা বলেন, সরকারের লক্ষ্য ডিভাইসের দাম কমিয়ে আনা। স্মার্টফোনের দাম আড়াই থেকে তিন হাজার টাকায় নামাতে সরকার কাজ করছে। একজন কৃষক, দিনমজুর বা রিকশাচালকও যেন একই রকম ডিভাইস ব্যবহার করার সুযোগ পান। মুঠোফোন সেবায় করের হার প্রসঙ্গে উপদেষ্টা বলেন, টেলিযোগাযোগ খাতে বিশ্বের তৃতীয় সর্বোচ্চ রাজস্ব আদায়কারী দেশ বাংলাদেশ। একজন সাধারণ গ্রাহক ১০০ টাকা রিচার্জ করলে মাত্র ৬২ টাকার সেবা পান, বাকি ৩৮ টাকা সরকার কর হিসেবে নিয়ে নেয়। এটি মুঠোফোন উৎপাদক, ভেন্ডর ও অপারেটর—সবার ওপরই চাপ সৃষ্টি করছে। পুরো টেলিযোগাযোগ খাত পর্যালোচনা করে এমন ব্যবস্থা করা হবে, যাতে ব্যবহারকারীরা ১০০ টাকায় ৮০ থেকে ৯০ টাকার সেবা পান।

March 25, 1971 is observed as Genocide Day. On the occasion of Genocide Day, 1 pay my deepest respect to all the martyrs. In the history of freedom-loving Bangladesh, 25 March 1971 remains one of the most disgraceful and brutal days. On that dark night, the Pakistani occupation forces carried out one of the most heinous genocides in history against the unarmed people of Bangladesh in the name of 'Operation Searchlight". They indiscriminately opened fire on teachers, intellectuals and innocent civilians at various places, including Dhaka University, Pilkhana and Rajarbāgh Police Lines, killing many people. The genocide of 25 March was a pre-planned massacre. Why this organised killing spree could not be resisted remains a matter of historical research regarding the visible role of the political leadership of that time. However, on the night of 25 March, the 8th East Bengal Regiment in Chattogram formally initiated armed resistance against the genocide by declaring 'We Revolt'. Through this resistance to genocide, the long nine-month armed Liberation War began. To convey the value and significance of independence to the present and future generations, it is essential to know about the genocide of 25 March as well. Let us all strive to honour the sacrifices of the martyrs by establishing in the state and society the spirit of the great Liberation War - equality, human dignity and social justice. Let us work together to build a just, developed, prosperous, self-reliant and democratic Bangladesh. I pray to the Almighty Allah to grant forgiveness and eternal peace to the departed souls of all the martyrs. On the occasion of Genocide Day on 25 March.
