I love waking up and listening to the same people who told us Bitcoin was going to $200,000 and that our bags would magically “up only” the second Trump got into office are now doing mental gymnastics to try to rationalize Bitcoin at 67K, knowing damn well it’s going much lower. Here’s the part no one wants to talk about: the loudest “up only” voices weren’t just early. Many of them are leveraged. They use their Bitcoin as collateral to run their businesses and fund their lifestyles. When Bitcoin drops, their loan to value (LTV) rises. When LTV rises, margin calls get closer. And when margin calls hit, they have two options: post more collateral or sell. If they can’t post more, the Bitcoin gets liquidated. That forced selling pushes the price down even further which raises LTVs across the board. It’s a feedback loop: Price drops → LTV rises → liquidations trigger → forced selling → price drops again. That’s how leverage turns a dip into a cascade. And when the cascade starts….the crowd suddenly goes quiet. Don’t even get me started on all the garbage we saturated the market with. Send all of it much much lower. We need a reset.
