Microsoft to Invest US$1 Billion in Thailand to Boost AI, Digital Capacity Microsoft Corporation will invest $1 billion in Thailand over the next two years to expand cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, supporting the country’s push to become a regional AI hub while lowering digital costs and improving public services. The plan was discussed during a March 31 meeting at Government House between Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith, who was visiting Thailand. Microsoft said the investment will focus on cloud and AI infrastructure, data centers, and partnerships with Thailand’s private sector, alongside programs to develop digital and AI skills among the Thai workforce. The government welcomed the move, saying it aligns with its strategy to strengthen digital infrastructure, enhance competitiveness, and improve the efficiency of public services. Authorities are also backing data center development and encouraging Microsoft to use Thailand as a regional base. Anutin also underscored the importance of human capital development, particularly education and workforce skills, thanking Microsoft for supporting training programs for teachers, public sector officials, and non-profit organizations, as well as efforts to build a new generation of talent in AI and data center technologies. #Thailand #Microsoft #AI
