Best thing about Jennifer Carpenter in Dexter New Blood is how campy and over the top her presence can be.
I miss Debra being alive. But her being a ghost in Dexter’s head gives this show’s presentation an unlimited amount of possibilities. I love it.

@feedthefish79 But keith’s managerial decisions like ppl paying for dinner in the room, paying for kids to wave a flag, not letting staff bring guests on the mentor trip, that shit’s gotta stop asap it’s disgusting and it’s how you get a reputation amongst players really fast
English

@feedthefish79 Treliving “quits” Calgary, then we hear all these stories about how meddling the owner is, i don’t think it’s a coincidence that’s happened twice now…

@mirtle So how are we doing in that vertical alignment? Are we lifting up trophies, communities, and spirits keith? Is it inclusion when you’re charging kids to wave a flag? This is the criteria MLSE holds itself to - to the shareholders - it matters that it’s followed, get outta here

@Antiiimarie @Chamber32Doors @JDBunkis With the leafs everything is under a larger microscope, but i’m sure if you dug into it these habits persist across the leafs/raptors/TFC to varying degrees. If you consider the leafs as a sample, it’s not out of line to extrapolate that across the board, leafs need a POHO tho
English

@Chamber32Doors @JDBunkis It’s complicated though because doesn’t he oversee other sports in the MLSE portfolio? So will they only fire him from hockey side of things? Who replaces him? They’re so cheap with all the nickel pinching, you really think they’ll hire a brand new hockey person to replace him?
English

This reporting is incredible, but the takeaways are devastating.
The nickel and diming, bizarre/terrifying AI push and the degree of organizational disfunction. Leafs are an even bigger mess than the pessimists imagined

@ldl716 Our saving grace might be that pelley wouldnt be doing this shit if he didn’t fear for his job - executive that report to rogers are never comfortable, he wouldn’t have used a search firm if he had confidence from the board - if next year doesn’t start well he’ll be fired by Dec
English

This is nuts. The AI shit from Pelley is insane and embarrassing. The more info that comes out, the more it looks like this organization is going nowhere but down under Rogers and Pelley.

“Alexa, should I wait until the last minute to trade Laughton and McMann?”
English

@Leafslatest So basically what we’re saying is MLSE has no core values, no mission, no vision beyond monetary savings - cutting costs doesn’t always equal profit Keith
English

Maple Leafs staff reportedly used AI-generated content for possible trade returns, something that hadn’t really been part of their usual approach before.
On the day of the trade deadline, Pelley also brought notes believed to be created using AI, which is becoming more influential at MLSE.
“Fans might be surprised by how involved a non-hockey executive was on that day.”
Other changes over the years to how things were run behind the scenes with the Leafs include:
🔹 Removing player discounts on merchandise and meals at Real Sports
🔹 Increasing ticket prices for friends and family
🔹 Charging a young fan a fee to wave a flag before the game

@CS11__ The one scene where Dex is laying in bed and “Deb” is consoling him and telling him how proud she is of him not killing anybody in 10 years - it’s haunting, it’s always in my head. Some scenes you think he’s got a good life in town, then you see just how fragile he is

Dexter New Blood
Episode One
“Cold Snaps”
“Tonight’s The Night. Hello Dexter Morgan.”
We’re home. Back like we never left. New Blood opens with a very relaxing, very simple atmospheric feeling. And that is what makes the inevitable SNAP so incredibly satisfying. Every scene feels like Dexter is subduing his urges and living kill free, but in the back of your mind you obviously feel on edge knowing something will trigger him.
They’re super playful with that aspect. They know the viewer. There’s lines of dialogue that are so ironic given Dexter’s past life. And i loved how they played with it. He’s living a sort of Gene Takavic like lifestyle and despite knowing what’s coming, i liked the casual status quo we got to live in. Harrison’s return was obvious. One thing i was excited for was seeing Dexter be a father to a child who’s not easily ignored. He’s old enough where there’s an actual dynamic and i’m interested in how they use that. I’m hoping they go into that specific Territory. Besides that, Angela seems cool. I very quickly connected with their relationship and that’s all i can ask for. I will say though, she’s a cop, Dexter’s a Serial Killer. I’m not gullible enough to not notice the enormous cliche that New Blood could be heading towards. It is hilarious to see Dexter LOVES to go for the Girlfriends with children even after Rita. He’ll never change.
I don’t want to exaggerate but man. New Blood just has a cinematic feel. It’s got an amazing backdrop with this snowy small town. That’s a beautiful visual to run with and especially when we’re dealing with Blood. Looking forward to how it’ll use it’s location compared to the Sunny Miami i spent 8 seasons with.
Dexter’s relapsed. He killed for the first time in 10 years. The fallout of his return to that life is gonna be spectacular. Debra being the ghost in Dex’s mind is genius storytelling and her being that voice in his head that actively tells him “NO”. The voice that is happy he managed to find a normal life and doesn’t want to see the old Dexter. There’s already been and there’s going to continue to be some incredible back and forths on a performance and character level.
The episode spent 70% with zero Michael C. Hall inner monologue. And i love how it finds itself into New Blood. The need to touch the deer to prove everything he touches doesn’t die followed by that exact thing happening, causing him to lose control is crafted so perfectly. I got goosebumps and an enormous smile on my face during that sequence.
Last note. The Music in this episode and i assume the entirety of New Blood is UNBELIEVABLE. It’s fucking fantastic honestly. Such a great vibe setting, and it feels at home. The OG show didn’t have much licensed stuff but i’m loving how NV is handling it.
