@Sublime_Knight Chat GPT says it’s promising technology but not solved yet.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. LMFP is a known battery tech, made of cheap abundant materials. When mass produced at scale cheap, reliable cars can be made. Are they just choosing to go out of business?

Honda says it has abandoned its plan to go fully electric by 2040. CEO: "It's not realistic. We have withdrawn this target. We have judged that it’ll be difficult to achieve."

Zohran Mamdani just closed NYC's $12 billion deficit without touching working New Yorkers.
- $8B in new state aid from Albany
- $2B from pension restructuring, NO benefits cut
- $1.77B in operational savings (overtime, contracts, leases, dead programs)
- $1B from delaying the class size mandate
- $568M from taxing the wealthy
- No property tax hike, no rainy day fund, no service cuts

🚨 When Mayor Mamdani took office, NYC had a $12 billion deficit. It is now $0.

@RBJHarvey7 They can not like it but it’s the new reality. They need to be using it every day to develop a skill set around it.

@MarioNawfal If it’s built like they build Fiber Laser Machines then it’s a POS.

@jsin215 @phriendlyphotog Just ask the question, would Delta Airlines be profitable if it had to pay to build, maintain and manage Atlanta Hartsfield? We are where we are because the Oil and Airline Lobbyists are well funded and good at peddling bullshit. Trains hurt their business.
English

@arpitrage Would Delta Airlines be profitable if it was on the hook for building and maintaining Atlanta Hartsfield by itself?

Brightline’s financial troubles are all about the debt it incurred in building out its service. It’s viable in operations.
Either we need more government subsidy for the initial infrastructure, or land value capture to make this model work
RAIL Magazine@RAILMag
Brightline under-reported truth in 3…2…1… The company has not had trouble attracting riders. March was its highest ridership month ever. It’s because it’s saddled with capital debit from building the operation. Debt that is assumed by the government for public passenger rail.
English

@RaccoonRailroad The infrastructure is all that needs to be nationalized.
English

Brightline didn't fail because it's a passenger train, it failed because it's a private company. Public transportation isn't profitable and that's fine.
Now nationalize it.

@55SweetThing I would accidentally pick the cart up and drop it on his head, then apologize for not seeing him there, before picking up the cart and dropping it in the head of the person sitting next to him.

@ucf_problems Who would we hire that can do better with the same money that’s available? Honest question. JD is 62, he is not going anywhere unless we fire him. He is the George O’Leary of basketball.

Let’s extend the coach! Lifetime contract!
Hard Rock Bet@HardRockBet
There are only two Power 5 schools who haven’t made the Sweet 16 😬
English

@KnightedNate @KnightFanAdam I would also add, even if you find a guy that can do something he will be gone in 2-3 years for a new job and more money. JD is to basketball what GOL was to football. A decent coach that we knew was not going to leave. This all comes down to money.
English

@KnightFanAdam Who? Basketball coaching isn’t like football. Unless your name is Duke or Kansas you don’t get to pick
With what resources? That still doesnt change how pitifully underfunded the program is
Also, it’s not like we have to spend 3 years dying making the massive leap to the big 12
English

@AntiWokeMemes You mean the poor white immigrants that were essentially slave labor during the Industrial Revolution didn’t actually build anything? Dang that’s wild.
English

@elonmusk What’s worse is the blame is placed squarely on whites in the US, when the Atlantic Slave Trade was in fact created by white people in Europe, mostly by the English. They created colonies that could only survive economically with slaves. Root cause…

A question I’ve received numerous times is “why would the KC-135 stay in the air for a long time & orbit after a collision, instead of just landing immediately?”
It could be a number of reasons, but I think the most likely is a “controllability check”.
After damage, you’re not sure how the jet will handle. It might be fine right after the incident, but what happens when you slow down? Lower the flaps & gear? Will the flaps even come down? Are you going to lose control? What other damage is there that we don’t know about yet?
So, you perform a controllability check at altitude. If the jet becomes unstable as you slow down & configure for landing, it’s better to find that out at 10,000’ than 2,000’. You might get a chance to recover the jet…at 2,000’, you probably won’t.
I’m not saying that is the reason, I’m just offering a reasonable possibility.
