Russell Lee took several shots of the patrons in a cafe at the San Angelo and all of them are super. Candid shots of the folks who happened to be on hand when he showed up. They are windows into a whole world. I love this one in particular. The gentleman on the far right is just entering and he's got no idea that Russell Lee is even there. The woman is listening to a story being told by the waitress behind the counter. The man to her left has a coffee cup in one hand and a biscuit in the other and is thus my spirit animal. The next man is reaching into his pocket to get his wallet, toothpick in mouth. He's satiated. The man on the end of the counter is also listening to the story and has been caught mid eye-roll because he's heard it 27 times before and knows that it never happened. What's your take?

@BSG Re: Drivers License Renewal. The oldest (who left USN in Dec) walked into the local TDPS office around/about 8 am Wednesday of last week & within 20 min. had his new DL. No appt., no hassle.

T. Cullen Davis at the Tarrant County Courthouse in 1977 during his trial for the murder of his 12-year-old stepdaughter, Andrea Willborn. Davis is a former oil tycoon who is best known for being acquitted of murder and attempted murder in two high-profile trials during the 1970s. At the time of his first trial, Davis was believed to be the wealthiest man to have stood trial for murder in the United States: it was thought that his net worth was 250 million dollars. The lead defense attorney was Richard "Racehorse" Haynes, who was prominent in his own right and who crafted the defenses at the two trials Davis faced. In the first trial, he was accused of murdering his 12-year-old stepdaughter on August 2, 1976, during a contentious divorce from his second wife, Priscilla Davis. He was found not guilty. The second trial, two years later, involved allegations that Davis attempted to hire a hitman to kill both Priscilla and the judge overseeing his divorce from Priscilla. Again, Davis was acquitted. These were two of the most sensational/notorious trials in Texas history. For several years, it seemed like you couldn't open a newspaper or turn on a TV without hearing or seeing the name T. Cullen Davis. T. Cullen Davis is 91 years old. His ex-wife Priscilla died at the age of 59 in 2001.

I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback - and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition.
