Race-based data is supposed to be a tool to provide equitable solutions to disparities. It doesn't end at data collection.

To make race-based data meaningful, we need to factor in where there may be gaps to continue the cycle of misinformation. And most importantly, accessing and serving those who go under the radar.

We facilitated candid conversations with community members and organizations to discuss how we can make race based data in healthcare accessible. A topic that came up was trust, cultural diversity within the Black community and a need for education.

It was important for us to incorporate race-based data and community care in a tangible way. That was our motivation for our Black Health Fair and Wellness Summit in January 2023.

Race-based data can be used to hold institutions and policymakers accountable. By shining a light on disparities, we can encourage institutions to take action to address them.

Gathering data is crucial in the global effort to combat racial discrimination, as racial and ethnic statistics are vital in the development, execution, and evaluation of policies.

Statistics need to portray that the patient population must include those who are being served, those who are poorly served, and those who are not being served.
