@Aviationboys @RealSlothSlayer It appears that you have an incomplete or incorrect understanding of those references. Also, concerns that the assembly and translation of the Bible was less than perfect does imply that the Bible is not true. Finally, who do you think is the “great and abominable church”?
English

@smbond14 @needGod_net This is an atheist argument. This same standard can be applied to any biblical miracle. A resurrected Christ appearing to “other sheep which are not of this fold” is reasonable and in harmony with the love God has for all His children.
English

@BStewart05 @needGod_net No, they are ridiculous because they make absolutely zero logical sense. You’re telling me there is a logical explanation for Jesus randomly appearing in the Americas?
English

@Aviationboys @RealSlothSlayer The doctrine is perfect but the messengers are not. Even the prophets that gave us scripture were not perfect.
English

@BStewart05 @RealSlothSlayer Except it has to be perfect. Otherwise it's not the truth, nor is it from God. Deuteronomy 18 makes clear that any imperfection from a prophet is subject to death and being cut off.

English

@Aviationboys @RealSlothSlayer It appears that you are implying a perfection standard which assumes that something cannot be true if it is not perfect. The Bible is not perfect, but neither is the book of Mormon. That imperfection is what necessitates additional evidence which is a primary claim of the BoM.
English

@BStewart05 @RealSlothSlayer But I don't have any incomplete or incorrect understanding. That is exactly what Nephi is stating here. The issue you have is that you can't say "we have the same gospel" and then turn around and say "oh but the Bible is corrupted". You can't have both.
English

@SR71Hockey @RealSlothSlayer Literally teaches salvation through atonement and crucifixion of Christ. References exact same teachings and prophets as the Bible. Try actually reading it.
English

@KimBradenMoore2 @needGod_net Unless you have some evidence of how these beliefs are false or harmful, “tamper with scripture” sounds like “doesn’t confirm my understanding”
English

@BStewart05 @needGod_net Exercise caution when a “beautiful belief” is in error or impotent.
Terms/events such as heavenly mother, visit to Americas, restored gospel etc were generated by someone who wanted (or needed) to tamper with Scripture.
2 Corinthians 11:14
Matthew 7:15-20, 24:11
English

@KimBradenMoore2 @needGod_net Yes. So it’s a good thing He gave us counsel how to we can determine truth and false teachings.
English

@BStewart05 @needGod_net Would you be concerned if Jesus warned against beliefs & teachings that misled His sheep?
English

@needGod_net The Book of Mormon is not another gospel. It teaches the same gospel of Jesus Christ as the Bible.
English

@needGod_net Christ appearing to people on earth, including people located in America, after he was resurrected is reasonable and is supported by the Bible.
English

@needGod_net LDS theology teaches that salvation comes 100% through the grace of Jesus Christ. Any claim to a works based salvation is a gross misunderstanding of the doctrine and teachings. Any quote referring to works can be buried under a mountain of evidence reaffirming salvation by grace
English

@smbond14 @needGod_net They are ridiculous solely because of how they are presented. It makes out the strain on accuracy. We can play the same pointless game with any faith. It’s completely unproductive other than providing a motivated skeptic with a reason to remain ignorant.
English

@BStewart05 @needGod_net When the “boring and tired takes” are this ridiculous, you don’t really need any other context to see how insane LDS is
