Keeping up with the constant advances in AI-assisted development is a team effort at BTI360. Every week, our engineers are sharing what they are learning in chat groups, at standups, over lunch, in formal tech talks, and most recently in lightning talks.
Last week, several engineers shared their learnings by giving lightning talks on the theme of “Boosting Developer Productivity with AI.” A major takeaway was that AI is not just accelerating existing workflows; it is fundamentally reshaping them.
One talk highlighted spec‑driven development with Kiro, making the case that slowing down and planning more will lead to better AI outcomes. Another talk walked through emerging best practices for using AI coding assistants responsibly, showing how teams are increasing velocity while maintaining (or improving) code quality.

AI has just solved a previously unsolved math research problem that experts had tried and failed to crack for years.
This is the first open problem solved in the FrontierMath Open Problems benchmark—a collection of unsolved research problems. As such, it marks a significant milestone: models making original research contributions and expanding the body of knowledge.
As this type of AI‑facilitated research accelerates and spreads to other disciplines, it could dramatically reshape the frontiers of human knowledge.

“AI won’t gain adoption in national security environments without credible ways to evaluate its outputs.”
That was a key takeaway from the panel discussion facilitated by BTI360 CPO Clinton Wivell at the Potomac Officers Club 2026 AI Summit last week.
As GenAI systems take on more autonomous roles, national security customers need defensible ways to expose chains of thought and assess outputs. Getting evaluation right will determine how quickly these systems are adopted.

On this day in 1989, Tim Berners-Lee published his proposal for a “universal linked information system” that led to the creation of the World Wide Web.
The idea: combine hypertext and networked computers so documents could link to one another across institutions.
Today’s AI systems, APIs, and knowledge graphs are all built on the same underlying concept: information becomes exponentially more valuable when it’s connected.

As AI tools grow in capability, so does the potential for their misuse. The International AI Safety Report aims to stay ahead of the threat by identifying current misuses and anticipating future risks.
The 2026 report groups the top risks into three buckets:
1. malicious use
2. malfunctions
3. systemic risks
Key takeaways:
Design for adversaries, failure modes, and second‑order effects, and maintain a strong defensive posture.

When it’s easy to create code, it’s easy to create *code bloat.*
If they aren’t employed thoughtfully, AI coding tools can tend to create technical debt and skyrocketing O&M costs. Smart teams prioritize reusing existing components—internal and open source—over constantly generating new code.
This conversation with Michael Parker explores the relationship between AI and technical debt. How can engineers increase productivity while still prioritizing maintainability and extensibility?

Some companies aim to make technical interviews scary and unpredictable. We don’t.
Our technical interview is a chance for prospective teammates to meet actual engineers, share their professional experiences, and demonstrate how they think through problems in a collaborative environment.
It’s just one part of an interview process designed to be approachable and supportive.

Engineers read code far more than they write it.
Readable code pays off every day: faster delivery, lower maintenance costs, safer changes, happier developers.
