Black athletes have helped build college athletics into one of the most powerful and profitable industries in American life. Institutions that profit from Black talent and Black communities have a responsibility to stand with those communities when their fundamental rights are under attack. Silence in the face of injustice is not neutrality — it is complicity. Our statement unanimously opposing the SCORE Act:

The NAACP is urging Black athletes and fans to “withhold athletic and financial support” from public universities in states that “have moved to limit, weaken or erase Black voting representation”

NEW: The NAACP has launched a campaign urging college athletes and fans to withhold support from public universities in Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, and Georgia over concerns about Black voting representation. It specifically encourages athletes to consider “all options” under the transfer portal 😳
