NAACP President Derrick Johnson: The NAACP is calling on athletes coming out of high school not to attend any state-funded schools of states that have moved to minimize our right to vote. The NAACP will fight in solidarity with the CBC to ensure that we have representation, and if we don't, we will withhold the talent that play on the football field on the basketball court in this moment.

Serious question: When will HBCUs decide if they are willing to be a business of sport or continue to be a sport of business? They MUST make a decision.
How are we going to afford it when every day we say we have no resources & 99% of us have no real strategy, structure or leadership in place? We are not even making athletics a priority. It comes second place to academics - which I get, but times have changed. Sports run EVERYTHING, even over academics at the P4 level. We have been so used to our HBCUs being Academics > Athletics.
So again, how would any of them be able to handle an influx of athletes, especially the top tier ones when we pour all of our money into academics & let athletics fend for themselves?
