Check out this painting of the #brightonfishingquarter created by Johannes Kerkhoven. Only finished last week he brought the Museum a copy to say thank you for the inspiration of the hog boat that is in the top right corner of the painting.

These 'marks' were a major part of the local fishing industry. A fishing boys apprenticeship included learning the marks and were closely guarded to be kept in the family. Now obsolete as we have fish finders and sat nav. Presented to the #BrightonFishingMuseum by Linda Clark
