On March 29th, BURPG successfully launched and recovered Icarus. Preliminary analysis shows it flew to approximately 13,000 feet. This is the first liquid bipropellant rocket BURPG has launched in its 22 year history. Massive congratulations to the team for a spectacular launch!

Last Saturday, BURPG successfully completed a fully integrated vehicle hotfire of our new bipropellant liquid rocket, Icarus, lasting about five seconds. We intend to launch Icarus at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry site at the earliest possible opportunity.

There was no damage to hardware, and all signs point to an isolated issue with the particular igniter used for that test. The team intends to continue the test campaign at the earliest opportunity. (2/2)

On Saturday, BURPG made two hotfire attempts. The first was successful, but shutdown somewhat early due to lower than expected oxidizer density. After making procedural changes to extend the burn, the team recycled and fired again. This resulted in a minor hard start. (1/2)

BURPG conducted several tests of our Horizontal Test Stand’s oxidizer systems on Saturday, culminating in 2 cold flow tests consuming a combined 100 lbm of propellant. This provides invaluable data as we prepare for acceptance testing of our flight engines burpg.org

Relativity goes to college -- we were with the @BURPG (Boston University Rocket Propulsion Group) a few weeks ago -- they totally blew us away. It was absolutely impressive to see what these students are doing.
