Pitchers 🗣️ This is a long one but it has been heavy on my mind lately. As you all are headed into “off season” - as much of one as you get. You need to really reflect on your summer & fall seasons. Were you happy with your performance? GREAT! Give your body some rest & taper down in training. You do not have to shut down. You can still lift & condition but bring down your volume in pitching reps and or days of training. Your body cannot keep up with such high volume & perform at its best year around. Focus on preserving the tools that allowed you to perform at a high level while toying around with what you might add! Winter camps are a great idea for you coming off of such highly successful summer & fall seasons! Are you not happy with your performance? That is okay but you need to get really clear about why. Do you need more velo? A better change of speed? Another pitch? Better command? Reflect & ask yourself these questions. If you are not getting the mail, camp invites, or verbal confirmation through your travel coach that schools you like are interested then you should not be attending camps this winter. YOU NEED TO TRAIN! It’s the hard truth but, THE WORST thing you can do for yourself in recruiting is show up at winter camps as the same version of yourself you have been all summer & fall. Exhausted, throwing low velo, and not good enough tools. If you are exhausted it is understandable. Take a short break & reflect on what you need & seek out the resources to help you! Do not go back to your same pitching coach and work on the same things that did not help you to start with. What will impress college coaches if they don’t see you this winter? Show back up in the summer throwing harder, with more tools, or better command. Go train & do the work! @ogxsoftball is a great place to start if you are looking for help. Their assessment with give you real feedback & data of the tools you currently have, what you should go after, & how to do so! Much love 🫶🏻 Coach Ryker!
