@GMB What about all the businesses that leave their bins on the pavements. In Falmouth there are cafe’s/bars that clutter the pavements with bins and never move them. It looks disgusting and causes obstructions to the pavements.

A council is considering fining households that fail to remove their bins once they’ve been emptied. Supporters are calling it “bin blight,” claiming that the bins devalue homes and clutter the pavements. But is it fair to fine households for leaving bins out?

@GMB If you get fined for leaving your bin out, is my neighbour going to get a fine for putting a desk/dressing table outside their house over a month ago hoping someone would take it and haven't. Totally ruined by the weather but it's still there.

@GMB It depends how long the bins have to be left out before the law is broken. Many people aren’t around to bring them back in immedately and many have disabilities which means they need help to do so. If this is an issue maybe bin men could go back to collecting from on the property

@GMB Aye, sounds a bit harsh to punish families over bins, love. Maybe a gentle nudge or a reminder instead of a fine—after all, we all have our off days, don’t we?

What about those who put their wheelie bins out before work early morning and dont arrive home until late....and what about those who are disabled or elderly and have to walk up the street to retrieve their bins, because the bin men are too lazy to put the bins back outside of the homes where they were left...its s stupid idea!

@GMB Should force/fine skanks to upkeep their gardens etc too. Heavily overgrown gardens that're used as general waste dumping grounds do have a negative impact for other neibouring properties!! They attract pests, and effect property values.

@GMB They do cause an obstruction but the bin don’t help by leaving them strewn all over the street, but there’s not much excuse for them being out the day after bin day

@GMB This is not new it has been an offence to leave your bin out on the public highway since 1990.s46 Environmental Protection Act. A local authority has a stutory legal obligation to ensure the highway is free from obstruction.

The Chancellor has defended her decision to scrap the two-child limit on benefits, telling Good Morning Britain that all children deserve a "fulfilling life" regardless of "however many brothers and sisters" they have. Rachel Reeves said that many of the families receiving handouts were, in her words, "working incredibly hard". @LouisaJamesITV reports.

@GMB There is no guarantee that this money will be spent on the children. The money should have gone to schools for breakfast clubs and every child having a free school meal, therefore every child will benefit

This morning we're celebrating 80 years since our triumph in World War Two, all thanks to the young men and women who bravely signed up and risked their lives to defend Britain. But if another large-scale conflict were to break out, would we have the same fighting spirit? According to a new poll, nearly half of Brits said they would refuse to fight for their country "under any circumstances". Former Armed Forces minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan and Senior Lecturer in Sociology discuss.
