If a medical center thanks its healthcare heroes, but doesn’t pay to display it on billboards, then did it make a sound?

BREAKING: I am announcing a new directive requiring NY health insurers to waive cost sharing associated with testing for #coronavirus, including emergency room, urgent care and office visits. We can't let cost be a barrier to access to COVID-19 testing for any New Yorker.

Well, another residency application season is in the books. And in 2019, the average residency applicant (all comers) submitted 92 residency applications. Yes. NINETY-TWO. And each year, this number creeps higher and higher. We need to talk about this. (thread)

Gave a lecture to 20 residents today. They were NOT engaged. I cut off the power point and said "let's talk". 30 minutes later, I was invited back to that program next month. Moral of the story: You dont know what people want/need until you ask. It's ok to go off script.

All the fighting over labeling, PA versus resident salary is a distraction. REAL PROBLEM is we don’t pay residents enough and they feel insecure. Training programs need to be accountable for their graduates of any type. Not safe, don’t graduate. #medtwitter

Proud and thrilled to hear that @UNCEM will NOT be adding a PA/NP “residency” next year. We support add’l education for NP/PA, but not at expense of MD/DO education. Also applaud their decision to call this eventual training something other than “residency”. @nikkibinz

Did you know in UK, 91% appendectomies, 40% emergency laparotomies, 17% segmental colectomies are unsupervised by attending? Tough in US. New blog post for gaining autonomy for US residents: buff.ly/2M84bKN

Michelle and I are so inspired by all the young people who made today’s marches happen. Keep at it. You’re leading us forward. Nothing can stand in the way of millions of voices calling for change.
