Your pitch deck needs exactly 7 points in slides VCs spend an average of 3 minutes and 44 seconds reviewing a pitch deck That's roughly 30 seconds per slide 1: The Problem. What hurts and who feels it. Be specific. "Enterprise AI teams spend 40% of compute budget on redundant training" is better than "AI is expensive" 2: Your Solution. One sentence. What your product does, for whom, and the outcome it delivers. If you can't say it in one sentence, you haven't refined it enough. 3: Why Now. What changed in the market, in technology, or in regulation that makes this the right moment. This slide separates "interesting idea" from "investable opportunity." 4: Traction. Numbers only. Revenue, users, growth rate, LOIs, pilot customers. If you're pre-revenue, show waitlist signups, design partner commitments, or user engagement metrics. Something that proves demand exists. 5: Team. Why you specifically will win this market. Prior exits, domain expertise, technical background. VCs back teams, not ideas. 6: The Ask. Round size, valuation, use of funds broken down by category, and timeline to next milestone. Be specific about what this capital achieves. 7: Vision. The world if you win. Paint the picture of what this becomes at scale. Everything else - competitive landscape, go-to-market details, financial projections - goes in the appendix. Only pull those slides if a VC asks about them.
