Well, it's not a total surprise. The claim has been withdrawn. I would imagine it's due to the time elapsed. But here's the thing. As I said previously, Adams didn't do himself in favours in the way he answered some of the questions. Even fellow Irish Republicans will have some thoughts in relation to the way he dismissed the claims of people like Brendan Hughes. Apart from that, the opinions of police, military, intelligence services and even the US State Department have now been made clear. Regardless of what happens in a courtroom in London, it's the court of public opinion that matters most in the lobg term. When Adams is dead and gone, this civil case won't be the focus of the commentary about his life. Everyone knows the truth about him. His reputation hasn't been cleansed by the outcome of this civil case. The claimants didn't win but neither did Adams. When viewing the bigger picture, Adams lost but he probably doesn't know it yet.

The BBC article states, "The former Sinn Féin leader is the only witness being called by his defence." After a week of witnesses for the claimants, all of whom stated Gerry Adams was in the IRA, Adams will be the only person giving evidence, to say he wasn't in the IRA. It's interesting how so many people outside court, have taken to social media to support Adams, but they're not going into a witness box to offer some evidence or even express an opinion.
