@Thafnine I don’t think some indies realise that the appeal of “indie” as a label is that feeling finding a small scrappy artistic vision, or an underdog story where only a few people put together something very well crafted. And “we used AI” entirely reversed the whole appeal.

My fav thing about the Mikes in Deltarune being stand-ins for fan theories is that Toby gives their scenes music with inexplicable leitmotifs that defy all analysis. Freedom motif in Ch4 and Lost Girl in Ch5. I hope in Chapter 6 they get an Undertale one to really melt minds.

@BackseatStreams Yeah but it's widely documented that people just don't pay it even if they should, there's not much they can do to legally enforce the licence and I think any attempt to tighten that up would be met with way more backlash than just ripping up the business model entirely

For non-brits: The UK has a “TV License” that you need to pay £££ to watch live or VODs of TV channels. Me and many non-boomers are exempt since we NEVER watch TV on any device, only YouTube. This is a move to make YouTube count as a branch of TV and require a TV License too.

so the government is planning MANDATORY CHANGES to how content is discovered on YouTube in the UK. - they want YouTube to prioritise mainstream broadcasters like BBC, ITV and Channel 4 over user created content with a 'prominence regime' this is absolutely insane and is going to severely affect everyone british youtuber should this go through. YouTube have started a campaign to fight this, but we need your help to ensure this doesn't go through like this, since this could RUIN the site

@VinderTomat I would trust the BBC (and public service in general including CH4 etc) to not change their business model to appeal to new audiences, and instead do the same as always and just change what gets taxed in the license so everyone needs to pay again, if they watch it or not

@BackseatStreams Eh the BBC's charter renewal is next year and I think so many people don't pay the licence that they'll either dissolve it into basic taxation or launch a BBC subscription model (like how they've been testing outside the country recently), or some unholy mix of both

I’ve now had three different students email me for coursework interviews. Every single time they are super enthusiastic sending the questions and every time i answer stuff like “What other YouTubers do you idolise the most?” with “I don’t idolise YouTubers” they never reply again
