@TristinHopper I actually think this may have the reverse effect. The flood gates will open back up, the foreign buyers will be flooding back into the real estate market. The boomers will be drooling as property values go back up and everyone else suffers while the boomer seals clap elbows up

On ths plus side, if you were trying to bring down Canadian real estate prices you'd probably want your government to start doing a bunch of crooked, banana republic shit.

@RickAnderson Rick, why do you think people are negative about Canada? Ask yourself why this problem exists. After 11 years of liberals these feelings are more prevalent than ever. Do you see the pattern here? Basically every metric across the board has gotten worse.

I am truly fatigued by this negative line of dreck about Canada. Yes, we have challenges, more at the moment than usual. But this is a tremendous country, and yes we have a Canadian Dream, the belief that people can come together to build better lives, and in doing so build a better country: fair, decent, and diverse.

@FurkanGozukara Pretty hypocritical of her, considering she and Trudeau sent billions to Ukraine and she now works for Ukraine. That certainly isn’t Canada’s war. Shes just bitter she’s not getting kick backs from the US.

A telling sign on MS Now. Former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland completely dismantles the Trump administration. She exposes how Washington humiliates its closest allies and drags them into reckless wars without consultation. The empire is fracturing.

“People choosing a wine from the Okanagan over one from California. Anyone had any bourbon recently? No, I didn't think so. Sorry." Mark Carney treats consumer choice like he treats voter intention. Everything is subject to his whim.

@Mikeggibbs Carney and the liberals are the crisis. You think the US is waging an economic war against Canada now. Just wait to see what comes from Carneys talk and actions now. The US will not have China on its border. Carney is bringing them there. You are the one that needs to wake up.

I don't accept the criticism coming from hard partisans of Mark Carney. I repeat: the United States has threatened to invade Canada multiple times over the last year. And they are currently waging an economic war against Canadians that is costing us jobs. Canada is currently in the middle of the worst crisis facing the worst threats we ever have since World War 2. If this isn't a time to put aside our differences and start working together with our political enemies for the best interests of Canada, my God, you need your head examined. Wake up.

Carney might not be a perfect Prime Minister to a leftist like me but you gotta admit the man has a charm about him. The snarky remarks about US bourbon and not vacationing in Florida were good.

@MarcNixon24 These politicians make me sick. They don’t care about the people of Canada. Taking a pay raise April 1st is just another example of that. They are in it to strictly enrich themselves. The joke is on the Canadian people and these clowns are the ones laughing at us.

@thesovereignceo This is exactly why Trump was elected again to prevent this from happening in the US. The American people said absolutely not to the immigration flood and globalist left. Canadians happen to be too dumb to see it and have embraced it with Carney. Goodluck to all. You’ll need it.

Well Canada. This is it. Now is your chance to prove that a Liberal government can create some sort of prosperity. It’s never happened before, and if they can’t do it with a majority now - hopefully you’ll finally know that’s it’s not possible. My worry though is that they will now flood the country with immigrants and censor dissidents with their 1984 bills. They’ll exponentially grow the size of government and you’ll never be able to vote yourself out of this mess again. I hope I’m wrong. But this feels very very scary.

@cbcwatcher $3.5 billion hole in the budget that helps with affordability for Canadians is an issue, but apparently dropping an extra $90 billion plus on a train isn’t a problem….leftist logic at it’s finest.

Four left leaning columnists/journalists... Rosie says "I think Pierre Poilievre had a good point, Nick, because this is really an affordability issue, and he's trying to tap into it." "...And then the government saying, maybe we'll get around to it?" Nick Taylor-Vaisey of Politico "And so most economists will say that a rebate is the most efficient thing to do because it means that those who don't need to pay won't, and those who need relief will eventually get it. But speed's the problem here" Emilie Nicolas of le Devoir "I wonder if there were more solutions for food insecurity or for poverty in this country if it was the price of eggs or the price of bread or the price of milk that had big red numbers flashing in the side of the world as well." (Dont tell her about supply management making eggs more expensive) Gary Mason of the Globe and Mail "So if you drop those taxes for the rest of the year, you're talking about like a $3.5 billion hole in your budget." Gary in all his Globe analysis has never raised a concern about the rising Carney deficit before. Must only matter when trying to criticize Poilievre

@RMapleCan We literally just had an election and people made it clear they didn’t want a majority. Yet a few paid off politicians decided they have the right to give a majority. You want a majority? Call an election and earn it democratically.

In this pivotal period of Canadian history, Canada needs a MAJORITY government. According to all major opinion polls, the LIBERALS are guaranteed a majority if elections were held today. We have the chance to do this during the upcoming by-elections, otherwise it will be through more expensive general elections!! Voters in Scarborough Southwest, University-Rosedale and Terrebonne… please vote smartly!

@RomanFisher__ I keep seeing clawbacks for OAS. Sure that works. But how much money could be saved if we simple stopped sending money out of Canada?Let’s be real the majority of it is money laundering/fraud. OAS is for actual Canadians in Canada. (hypothetically anyway).I’m sure fraud there too

Whoever is willing to slash the clawback threshold for OAS and message it well to the public will win the youth vote with insane margins. The premise that an elderly couple, where each person is making $96k, is eligible for full OAS benefits (over $18k combined) is inexcusable.

Something people aren't thinking about. $90 billion being spent on a high-speed rail system in two provinces with heavy snowfall. What would the effects be of a train hitting a snow bank at 200 km an hour?
