According to the poll, nearly nine in ten seniors said they would support the measure as a “responsible step” to stabilize the country’s finances and ensure long-term economic sustainability. Analysts say the result reflects a strong sense of civic responsibility among older homeowners. “Canadian seniors understand the importance of sacrifice,” one commentator explained. “They recognize that difficult decisions may be necessary.” However, the poll revealed one notable detail in the methodology. When respondents were asked follow-up questions, the majority clarified they supported the tax only if it applied to future homeowners and younger generations.
