@based16z idk biased by their investment into whop they gave half their BTC holdings to the XXI DAT they throw very little at actual protocols majority of their funding was concentrated around Rumble, Juventus FC, and farmland

@BaggerWalmart They use the pnl to invest in bitcoin and a bunch of values aligned projects, while building a bunch of decentralized protocols (keet, AI stuff) whereas circle went IPO and massive executive comp route and hasn’t contributed much. Obvi they both take yield

I see payments bifurcating between: corporate + closed + extract squad (Stripe, Circle, Coinbase) VS grassroots + open + build stuff squad (tether, hyperliquid, etc.) And I think Whop can become the consumer fintech layer for the second group
