@JamesBa34076749 @TheStatsSaint Teams who sold you players with promotion clauses could sue. Worse than that your own players could sue for loss of earnings as their wages would have increased in the Premier League

Spygate Ramifications 📊 We've spied on multiple teams and rightfully deserve to be kicked out if that's true. So we go into next season, needing to sell players for a new promotion push, and no player pull as we're known as cheaters. There goes Scienza, Jander, Charles. FFS

@AdamBlackmore The lawsuits could be huge. Wrexham could sue, clubs with promotion bonuses in players transfer fees could sue. Even your own players could sue for loss of earnings as their wages would have gone up in the Premier League. It's a minefield

The appeal from #SaintsFc likely to be heard tomorrow and when you have admitted to cheating 3 times the grounds for that appeal can only be that the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. With what was at stake it may be the biggest financial punishment in recent sporting history - but there’ll be little sympathy outside the club

@_ChrisLepkowski The manager has to be sanctioned, as he must have known. He was the only person who could use the collected information. I can see lawsuits flying out. I'd imagine Wrexham could sue, we could even seek damages as it cost us a windfall from Fellows deal.

If I was a Southampton player, one game away from a massive pay rise and promotion bonus, I'd be on the phone to my agent and solicitors to seek legal advice. Not against the EFL, but against my own employers.

@JustSaints_ @thetimes He should have already resigned if he was behind sending the guy to Boro to spy. Should have put his hands up, took full responsibility and attempted to remove the blame from Southampton. It's embarrassing that you felt you had to cheat

🚨 #SaintsFC head coach Tonda Eckert and other figures at the club could face individual disciplinary action from the FA and the risk of severe sanctions if charges of spying on promotion rivals Middlesbrough are upheld. [via @thetimes]

@harryadamsss If there was no advantage being gained, he wouldn't have been there. It would be foolish to believe an 'intern' went to do this off without being paid to do so. Southampton have shown no remorse, fans & players mocking it. Kick them out and point deduction next season

@WBA @DarylDike An awful decision. We should have attempted to keep him. Fit for the past year, still young and with a good goal to minutes ratio. Unbelievable

@WBA I would have definitely have kept Dike. This is a BIG mistake, especially when we have prioritized Maja and Grant over him

@DarrenBent The manager of Southampton is the only person who can use the information that the 'spy' gets. He has been getting this information, he has to know where it's coming from

@henrywinter The manager had to know. The only way the spying becomes useful is if he is given the information collected and acts on it. He had to know.

Southampton have always been a club that did things the right way. Attractive football, long history, loyal and vocal support, important community department, good atmosphere at the Dell and St Mary’s, develop talent, even a great cat at the training ground. A sound club. A touch of class. So as they head to Wembley, and deservedly so as they were better than Boro on the night, perhaps those who run the club and run the football side consider how to restore the club’s reputation.  Because a club who many neutrals had a soft spot for risk becoming hard to like. Some Southampton fans will not worry about what others think of them. But they should. They are currently associated with cheating - Spygate - and for allegations of discriminatory language on the pitch (which have yet to be proven). That’s not what Southampton are about.  Their head coach, Tonda Eckert, rightly earned plenty of praise for his inspirational work this season but risks coming across as charmless at times. Interesting that Boro’s coach, Kim Hellberg, in his Sky Sports interview, congratulated Southampton players and supporters but not their coach. Southampton have gained a shot at the Premier League - any Spygate sanctions permitting - but lost some respect. Saints’ board and Eckert now have to work out how to restore that good reputation. And pray that the independent disciplinary commission does not punish them severely and swiftly for Spygate. As many people want them to. #SaintsFC #SOUMID

Having thought about #SpyGate and Boro boss Kim Hellberg is right, Southampton cheated. The Saints have accepted their guilt. So, what can be done? A fine doesn't help Boro and they won't be thrown out. So for me, the second leg should be played without home fans.

@BBCMOTD He was obviously aware, he was going to be given that information. Manager should be banned and Southampton given a huge point deduction. This is way worse than PSR, so the penalty should be big

@SkySports_Keith The Southampton team management had to be aware it was happening. The information was going to be shared with them, so they obviously knew of it. Worse than PSR, this is blatant cheating and unfortunately for the fans they need to be punished severely. Manager should be banned

🕵🏻‍♂️ 🌪️ Southampton manager Tonda Eckert has just walked out of a tetchy post-match press conference.  ❓ He faced multiple questions on “SpyGate” but refused to answer beyond the club statement last night.  ❌ The club press officer stepped in and said Eckert will not be answering any more questions unless they were about Tuesday’s second leg. 🚶‍♂️ 💨 When the next question about SpyGate landed, they walked out together...
Keith Downie@SkySports_Keith

🚨 🕵🏻‍♂️ Kim Hellberg asked how he feels about his side possibly being spied on by Southampton? 🗣️ “Possibly??!” he replied… 🗣️ “We have watched every game of their’s, done everything in the right way. Hoping to win it fairly.”
