Ashe Road and McKee Road will be closed as early as 11 a.m.

Due to Boots in the Park, the Bakersfield Sports Village will be closed all day Saturday, April 11. The event will take place from 2-10 p.m. that day. Heavier than normal traffic is expected on Ashe Road and other nearby roads beginning around 11 a.m.

Need to get your dog updated with its vaccines? Stop by Saturday, April 11 at the Bakersfield Animal Care Center, 201 S. Mt. Vernon, for our low-cost dog vaccination clinic. It runs from 9 a.m. until noon. You can also get a dog license or a microchip.

Need to do some spring cleaning? We've got you covered! The City is hosting a FREE Bulky Item Drop-Off event this Saturday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at 15050 Stockdale Highway, just at the end of the Westside Parkway.

A new corridor improvement project in Downtown Bakersfield will require the long-term temporary closures of 18th and 19th streets between L and O streets starting Monday, April 6. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 31. Detours will be in place.

ICYMI Last week the City in collaboration with Alongside Autism held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the brand new fence around the playground at Wilson Park. Alongside Autism founder Fran Medrano spoke about the new addition and what it means to her family & the community.

> A full overnight closure of the connector ramp from Westbound Highway 58 to Northbound Highway 99 will begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1 until 6 a.m. Thursday, April 2 as crews install continuously reinforced concrete pavement. Detours will be in place.

> A nighttime lane closure on NB99 is planned for Wednesday as crews place continuously reinforced concrete pavement. A closure of the No. 3 lane will be in effect starting at 9 p.m. The No. 2 lane will be closed starting at 11 p.m. Both lanes are expected to re-open at 6 a.m.

Just a reminder, our Recreation & Parks Department will host its annual Eggstravaganza at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1000 S. Owens Street TOMORROW, March 27 from 2-4 p.m. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Residents can attend either meeting to be heard. Written letters of opposition will also be accepted at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall North, 1600 Truxtun Ave., or during the Council meeting May 13.

The City will now hold two public hearings on April 22 and May 13 for residents to share comments and concerns before the City Council takes action on May 13.

During the initial Proposition 218 Notice mailing the week of March 6, 2026, the City identified an error that caused approximately 30% of addresses not to receive a notice. Once discovered, corrected notices were sent to affected residents during the week of March 16.
