El-Rufai speaks on how himself and Matawale brought BAT to power: “We the Northern governors agreed that Presidential position should go back to the West. It was a verbal promise but promise whether written or spoken God knows. When we saw some people plotting for presidential position to remain in the North, We disagreed, we are not like that. We are Muslims and we have our traditions and we cannot go back on our words. That was the first step. The second step is, after we all agreed, we agreed that we will support BAT. We will tackle the issue of tribalism and religion in politics in this country. When we had that agreement I was not in good terms with him (Tinubu), we were fighting. But Professor Akintola, and their leaders came from Lagos and said this is their thought. The Yoruba people from the South-West have a problem. Their Muslim cannot contest and win election, and I asked them to bring the person we will support and BAT got the ticket. We knew he will have to take a Muslim as his vice. There's nothing he can do than to bring a Muslim as his vice because if he did not he will not win election. Like I said in politics one needs to pause and do some calculations and also use his own thinking. Allah sees our hearts. Me and Zamfara State Governor Matawale, did it because of God and we didn't do it because of anything. We only do it in order to have solutions to the current religious problem we are having in Nigeria And for us to give South-West muslims sense of belonging to rule. It’s because of religion that we used that gave Asiwaju victory. What we are able to achieve in Kaduna state now has been achieved in Nigeria as whole. There's no any liar that will come and say he will do politics as a Christian and win the election even Peter Obi didn't win. Since when Asiwaju won election CAN could not even utter any word that's how we will achieve peace in this nation. So if we keep bringing Muslim/Muslim ticket everything will be going smoothly for us muslims. That's what we do and to me we are done with our works, since Asiwaju already won the election.” Now Nasir El- Rufai is reaping the fruits of his hard Labour. Relax!! Tinubu will get to you. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the @elrufai family and friends and pray that Allah (SWT) accepts her soul and grant her Al-Janna Firdaus. Hajia Umma lived to a prime old age in dignity and service to family and community. She was a woman of sound faith and her passing on the day of Jumu’ah is a source of consolation to the family.
