In the spirit of Ohana, as I start my 3rd year, and I am grateful. I am grateful that my babies, who will spend their days at @OBPSMemorial, helped me get ready to take care of your babies at @CarlSandburgMS. Wishing you all a Safe, Successful, Happy & Healthy school year.
What an amazing morning at Sandburg where the Silvestri & Bresocnik revealed the total numbers of letters written by students and staff in Old Bridge.
Shoutout to Southwood (90k+) and Sandburg (105k+) for their amazing totals! Overall OBTPS wrote 217,492 letters this year.
@RutgersAltRoute Staying a step ahead is key. Provide students with counselors, mental health clubs, safe places. SHOW students that we care about their physical and mental well being #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
@RutgersAltRoute At times if one has a predetermined prejudice, this may come into play. It is important that we stay aware and educated #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
@RutgersAltRoute Participate in PD's provided by school. We also have outside of work team building events. My school hosts many activities/events for the community #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
During last Saturday's chat we discussed #edtech and opportunities for collaboration. For Q3, reflect on how you engage with your colleagues & students' families (high tech or low tech) #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
@RutgersAltRoute I provide a safe environment by having a zero tolerance policy for bullying. I also let students know that they are free to communicate with me in a way that they feel comfortable. It may not be in front of the class or even in person or online platform #AltRtEd#safeschools
Let’s move on to our next question. Reflecting on the materials you’ve read, your professional experience, and your role as an educator, answer Question 2 #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
@RutgersAltRoute Clearly communicate school policies for safety, run drills, touch base with students on a daily basis for any extra needed services through our administration or guidance departments #AltRtEd#safeachools
To start us off, here's Q1 #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
When considering your "practices", think about your
- content
- classroom management,
- the academic/social/emotional skills you are teaching, and
- the physical/virtual space of the classroom

@RutgersAltRoute Aside from those at home being able to monitor their child's participation/grades, I use email and phone calls to engage families with positive phone calls home ! #AltRtEd
For our final question, we look forward to hearing your ideas on engaging parents and families.
We're hopeful you can pick up some new ideas to try next year. #AltRtEd#EdTech
Here's Question 4! #AltRtEd#EdTech
Tip: After responding to a question, click on the event hashtag(s) to see your peers' responses. You can reply to their tweets with your own feedback and answers.
@RutgersAltRoute We participate in team building activities in addition to our PD hours/days. We have outside activities set up as well. Connecting with various educators across the world is beneficial and we do this through online platforms #AltRtEd
Collaboration is an important opportunity for novice and veteran teachers to seek advice, wisdom, and assistance from their peers. Consider the role of technology in this process. #AltRtEd#EdTech
