@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez I mean white kids been listening to rap in general since the 90s. Probably before that. I know they consume a lot of it but to say the underground has been 60% white since day one is fucking insane brother I’m sorry. Could it possible maybe be 60% today? Maybe. But always? No.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez i mean i think it gradually increased throughout the 2010s but since eminem there’s been a huge white presence in hip hop. i don’t think a lot of people in the black community realize how much of their art is consumed by white people.
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez I wont disagree on a large amount of his fan base being white kids but that doesn’t mean the original tweet can’t be true. Your comment saying it starts in the inner cities and then eventually branches out supports what the original tweet is conveying. Im not even saying I agree.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez idk, i don’t feel like we’re gonna agree on this, i think your view of the carti fanbase is skewed. obviously there is some of what ur saying but white kids outside of the culture have been the main audience. any demographic study will show that.
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez I mean sure I guess bro that’s music in general now and even back then. It’s the streaming era heavy. But it’s not like how you saying it.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez opiums fanbase started on the internet just due to the timing
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez Blog era was still majority black kids on the net when sht started hitting Instagram and WS and the clout era that’s when the white presence turnt up.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez i mean it started as early as the blog era but rly went crazy on the internet during the soundcloud era and it only grew from there
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez A lot of white kids for sure but predominantly white no. Carti fan base is majority niggas maybe during the vamp rockstar era the white kids starting popping up more visible but even then the main audience was black niggas like carti that fucked with the alt rockstar aesthetic.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez i guess my point is, i agree that the opium fan base has gotten more corny but i don’t think it’s because it was some pure label that only black people listened to, it was always predominantly white i just think as it’s grown it’s hit different white demographics
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez I’ll give you that. The 2020-21 scene had heavy influence from tiktok and sht and that’s more internet based. I’d say the underground got turned onto the internet around 2018ish when WS on Instagram started going up and memes and all that and that was the turning point.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez the 2020-2021 scene was never underground in the traditional sense, it mainly started on the internet from the beginning due to covid… because of this the scene never rly started in the cities and started with white suburban kids on the internet.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez 1. it was always internet culture
2. white people were always more of the audience
3. i think as opium got more popular, the corniness and outsiders became more visible but it was always there
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez Bro ur literally explaining the original tweet better than he probably could. That’s exactly what happened. Just cause it’s consumed more by someone doesn’t mean those same people can’t make it corny. U right about before opium but these new niggas are the main ones not the old.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez your missing the point that in the USA (the main place where rap is popular) black people only make up 13% of the population. so by nature it is consumed more by white people. that’s not to say people don’t listen in inner cities, they obviously do.
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez Ur literally proving bro point. It got lame when the people on the outside looking in took it and tried to make it internet culture. Only way I can see for that even be plausible is the population size differences but 90%+ of Black people listen to rap vs maybe 40% of White ppl.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez as far as opium goes, they’re fan base was built off carti’s which is one of the most white fanbases in rap music. if you went to an opium show in 2020 or 2021, it was already 90% white kids on those tours.
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez Carti’s fan base was built off black people on SoundCloud listening to the genre of rap that they like made by the same type of nigga as them. It’s 90% white because like I said y’all are the money signs that can spend 100+ on tour tickets and merch.
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez Dude do you hear yourself. Rap is not most popular on white suburbs. It’s most popular in inner cities where it’s made. Where you can walk outside and it’s being played everywhere and it’s niggas selling CDs on the corner and all that. Not in little Timmy’s room on low volume.
English

@BallKnowerr23 @packrunnergeez i feel like you just didn’t read what i said, rap fans have been mostly white for decades… rap is most popular in white suburbs. that doesn’t mean that’s who artists are making their music for but that is the main group consuming it.
English

@forgotoeat @packrunnergeez Deadass just proved OP’s point. The main target for mainstream and underground rap has always been the people that look like the people that’s making it. Y’all was money signs for label owners not apart of the culture. To say UG fans are 60% white is crazy, maybe on the internet.
English

mat@forgotoeat
@ikudht @packrunnergeez hip hop mainstream or underground has been mainly white audiences since the 90s… not only just because the demographic of the west (the main area where hip hop is popular) is like 70% white but because labels made more money from marketing to white audiences, that’s a fact.
QME

@BronGotGame If Dlo wasn’t a walking and talking trash bag his legacy would be regular season man and Bron would have 5 of them thangs man
English

@packrunnergeez let’s not rewrite history, the underground has been minimum 60% white fans since day one
