No one on this @AU_MBasketball roster was there because of money. Everyone is in good academic standing. And, most importantly, they're all first class people; which isn't surprising having gotten to know some of their families. Everything from sticking around after games so they could sign autographs for kids to always deflecting the credit to their teammates and coaches. I'm fortunate to be very fulfilled by my day job but I love covering basketball in my free time because 1) basketball is awesome and 2) it exposes you to a lot of interesting people with compelling stories. This group represents everything pure about college athletics so while I know the outcome on the court wasn't what they would have wanted, I'm glad I got to play some small part in covering their effort, their togetherness, and their character; all things they should be very proud of. Just a special group and I so look forward to seeing all the great things they do after this.
