@Greiser The rule of 144 is simply the rule of 72 times two-it doubles again. Not a new rule, just the same time with the same rule.

Last week a client showed me their 401(k). $600K. Mid-30s. Everything maxed. Their question: "Is this actually going to get me there?" They knew the Rule of 72 to double their money. They had no idea about tripling it. Or quadrupling it: ↓

Tell me the last time @BurgerKing was good (or actually had a chance)? It’s been steadier lately, but still primarily PE-owned. Unless you’re Inspire or JAB, that model rarely builds restaurant brands, it bleeds them. From ’97 to 2014, they were flipped five times: IPO, mergers, PE deals. Every time, equity was stripped. The brand suffered. Had to start over. This is why BK has always been a few steps behind: it was operated as a piggy bank, not a long-term viable operation. In the 90s, @BurgerKing was a big competitor. Our AUV was about $1.6M and BK’s was $1.2M. Fast forward to today: @McDonalds is at $4M and BK is only $1.6M over two decades later. They didn’t even keep up with inflation. I used to want the Burger Kings next to me closed, but now I want them all open. If they close, a stronger competitor is more likely to move in.
Pat Buckley ⛫@EmpiresPod_

Interesting read on 3G Capital, the firm that acquired Burger King in 2010 for $4.1B. That investment has ~30x'd, and now returns ~80% of the acquisition price annually via a dividend. But while 3G has done well, the Burger King brand in the US has struggled: 1 year after the acquisition, Wendy's surpassed Burger King in terms of total US sales - • Wendy's did $8.5B. • Burger King did $8.4B. This gap has only widened, as Wendy's now does ~$1.5B more US sales than Burger King. BK has also closed nearly ~10% of their US locations over the past 6 years. And with an Avg Unit Volume of $1.6M, they're far behind: • Culver's: $3.7M • Wendy's: $2.1M • McDonald's: $4.02M • Whataburger: $4.02M (only included brands with over 1,000 units) They're still the 3rd biggest burger chain in America, but similar to KFC, global growth has made up for domestic struggles. Stateside, they continue to bleed marketshare to competitors every year. This is a brand that's had 4 separate owners and 19+ CEO's since the founders sold in 1967. Very different from Wendy's and McDonald's, who were founder led for decades each (yes, Kroc is the franchise founder, don't @ me). Patrick Doyle - former Domino's CEO - is executive chairman of Restaurant Brands International - the company that owns BK. If anyone can turn things around domestically, it's him. I'm also interviewing a 90+ unit Burger King operator later this month - will be fun to dive into what he's seeing!

@McFranchisee You reward both, but at a different scale. The manager gets x, but the team gets y. X is for performance and y is in part because of the manager (x), but also acknowledging self contribution (y). You make it a rising tides raise all ships where the percentage of y is more than x.

Need advice: One of your top people is creating a culture where their team is more loyal to them personally than to the company itself. High performers who move into their team go from being positive about the company to being more focused on their loyalty to this manager, and it's starting to feel toxic. This isn't just a one-off situation; it's becoming a consistent pattern. What do you do?

🚨It’s official🚨 the GOP now lead in voter registration in Bourbon County! When I first ran for Congress, Democrats had a 2-to-1 advantage. Thanks to strong GOP leadership at the local, state, and federal levels delivering real results for Kentuckians, Bourbon Co. is now red!

@KySportsRadio Costs more than Amazon Prime at the lowest level with less return. Could also bundle with new ESPN streaming and still spend less. Think pricing is a bit out of touch, especially with new K Fund pricing that excludes student and employee discounts in future years.

Embarrassing is you championing DEI, sending your employees to non-bias classes to overcome white privilege, defending BLM rioters and saying you’d fight “injustice.” And remember you called Mitch your “mentor” in 2021 before your consultants attempted to remake you into a phony, fake, fraud. Have another Nikki check?
Nate Morris@NateMorris

It's embarrassing that @barrforsenate is regurgitating talking points from his "mentor" Mitch McConnell and smearing the entire America First movement as "nativists" because we oppose amnesty and want to deport all illegals. And then just when you think Barr can't get weaker on the border, he starts lecturing us about America being a "nation of immigrants" like some leftwing MSNBC host? This is his "basket of deplorables" moment. Of course, this is the same guy who previously bragged about how he was going to fight to stop President Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship. He might not believe in American sovereignty, but the rest of us do. And the rest of us are sick and tired of our country being overrun with illegal immigrants. But the thing we're most sick and tired of are weak career politician RINOs like Andy Barr who always try to sell us out on amnesty. Mitch McConnell pushed amnesty his entire political career and so I guess its no surprise that Barr is following in his open border footsteps. I believe with every fiber of my being that the only way to protect our sovereignty as a nation, as well as the economic sovereignty of our citizens, is to deport every single illegal immigrant currently in America - Full stop.

@JacksonCollier When Alabama tweets about Saban, do they include his LSU title and draft picks? Or is it like Tennessee and Barnes still talking about coaching Durant?

@treswatson @CalebJSmith Let the process vet him and do it. Don’t like the pick, but doesn’t mean I take a cheap shot because my old boss got out maneuvered. I’m more confused on who the sacrificial lamb will be with this many surprising nominations.

We must defend Section 230 to protect Republicans winning elections. If my team stops winning I’ll reconsider this stance, but for the time being it seems imperative to defend the ability of big tech AS LONG AS THEY continue to stop bullying our side. I’m not getting a Section 230 tattoo or anything, just saying. I can be transactional.

NEW: CNN’s Van Jones calls for social media “regulation” and a halt to “unlimited amounts of money" in politics. Interesting timing. Just happens to coincide with @elonmusk platforming free speech on 𝕏, becoming involved in politics and Democrats convincingly losing a presidential election. - Democrats are incensed that they have lost their information monopoly largely due to 𝕏, and they are angry about it. - Democrats vastly outraise and outspend Republicans in every presidential election cycle, and this one was no different.
